TL;DR: Outdated menu given, higher system price charged, and the short-haired waitress made it feel like my fault—never again.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was frustrating enough that I feel the need to warn others.
I ordered the chicken pad see ew, which was clearly listed as $17.99 on the menu. When the bill came, however, I was charged $19.99. I pointed it out, and the short-haired waitress said she would “ask the boss.” She came back saying that was the new menu price, and that I must have looked at an old menu. In other words, instead of acknowledging the restaurant’s mistake (handing me an outdated menu but charging me a higher system price), the attitude was to make me feel as if I was at fault.
After more back and forth, they finally agreed to “adjust” the bill—but only down to $18.99. When I insisted the menu clearly said $17.99, she checked again, realized I was right, audibly sighed in annoyance, and only then corrected it. Even at that point, she said something like “next time it will be the new price,” which was unnecessary and dismissive. Throughout the entire process, there was no apology, no sense of accountability, and no recognition that this was the restaurant’s own error.
The overall demeanor of this waitress was impatient and unprofessional. I left feeling like the restaurant had tried to shift the burden of their mistake onto me, and instead of treating me as a valued customer, I was treated like the problem.
One last small but telling detail: when collecting the menu earlier, she held out her hand mid-air and asked, “Can I have the menu?”—even though the menus were lying on the table, not in our hands. It set the tone for a service style that felt awkward...
Read moreOrdered take out for a Pineapple Fried Rice, Pad Thai, and changed from Mango Chicken to Basil Chicken. The restaurant shows a menu where the chicken fried rice is $14.99 and told me so. But when I received the check on my take out the charge is for $18.99. The argument is that the pineapple in the pineapple fried rice warrants the extra $4. This is by far the most expensive fried rice dish for an average, non-high end restaurant who charges $4 for a few slices of pineapples and hides the item as a "House Special Fried Rice" on the bottom of the menu while the fried rice options costing $14.99 are featured in the middle of the menu. Moreover I changed my Mango chicken to a Basil Chicken. The basil chicken costs $1 less than the Mango chicken yet the restaurant refused to refund my $1 difference after my change order.
I will not be returning to this restaurant due to their unfair practices. $19 fried rice costs more than most sushi rolls at nearby sushi restaurants in the area. $19 is basically an entree item at most places yet at Amarin Thai it buys only rice, very few chicken and pineapple.
And no refunding for the $1 on the change order? I don't care if your customers are billionaires. The restaurant should refund the appropriate money back to customers unless the customers clearly waive this...
Read moreWORST experience ever. Came here for a Friday night dinner with mom and husband. We ordered vegetarian pad thai with brown rice and curry. Explicitly specified pad thai with NO EGG, 40 minutes later we were served with noodles with egg and white rice. We are on a strict whole grains restricted diet so had to sit without noodles or rice just with the curry and wait for the noodles to arrive without egg. 20 mins later we were told the rice cooker was broken so brown rice was not available. My mom was still working on her plate when the waitress came and picked up the plates and presented us with a check without asking us. When the cheque came we were charged for something we had not ordered. The noodles were clearly listed as EGG OK instead of NO EGG. I went to the front desk and spoke to the manager Peter. Peter tried to justify the waitress's behavior.(they did not know the rice cooker was broken until 45 mins of making us wait with curry in front of us). He then offered to do something for me if this was about the check. I told him it was not about the money but the service. Not a single apology, rather he made it seem as though we were complaining just to get something taken off the cheque. I insisted on paying for whatever we had eaten and left the place wondering how this quality of service...
