We love this place. The food and beer are great. But our most recent experience here has been both unsafe and unsatisfactory.
I really hate to leave negative reviews, but here we go. It started when we sat down. When we were lead to our table no one reiterated that we need to wear masks when we are up from our table. Due to the close nature of their outdoor seating, there is no way to walk around and socially distance, so mask wearing is a must. Shortly after, a man at the table next to us got up from his seat without a mask and brushed my chair. That was uncomfortable but we thought it must have been a fluke.
Then the waiter, wearing a balaclava for a mask, brought us our drinks that had been sitting out for a while. His balaclava fell under his nose, and due to the fact that he had to hold the tray with both hands, he was unable to adjust it. Meaning he breathed into both our drinks.
We figured it was still probably safe, and tried to carry on with our dinner. Until the same man who went to the bathroom got up again, this time with his buddy. Both were not allowed into the restroom without masks so the two of them both chatted right behind our chairs (literally touching our chairs, too close to us pandemic or not) while they figured out what they did wrong and where their masks went. It was at least 30 seconds.
We asked for the check because we were both feeling uncomfortable at this point. But seeing the lax rules here, a second table decided to get up and stand behind our chairs AGAIN, and talking about whether or not they need to wear masks.
It is the restaurant’s responsibility to tell it’s customers that they cannot leave their tables without masks.
Oh and they got our food wrong on top of this all.
Post pandemic, this place will be great. But the honest truth is that it is just not safe...
Read moreI love everything that comes in a bench and is called Beergarden but after coming here three times I realised this place is great for beer, ok for food.
Beer is great and the place is buzzing with energy but food is just your typical bar food so not impressed. Come early to try their pretzel!
We tried an IPA, Czech beer and another type. All beers were lovely!
Food was ok. Between the four of us we tried:
Steins burger. Bun was too big and patty was ok, was missing flavour and that juice burger vibe. fried chicken sandwich was average too. Didn't have the crispy from the outside and soft from the inside touch. smoked veg stew was ok, nothing to rave about either salmon special was good bread pudding everyone vouched it was great but i was too full to try
It is also quite expensive so I don't see value for money here.
Another time we came for a late night drink and snacks and the second time, we came here with friends for lunch. One couple split the waffle and fried chicken (the portions were HUGE) and I had the eggs benny with salmon - which was most probably the best I've had so far in the Bay Area maybe because of their homemade biscuit!!! Delicious stuff! Apparently they have a donut filled with cream and fresh fruit which you usually order before lunch haahhaha we had it too and it was nice (not too sweet) but didn't understand the hype about it.
Would definitely come back for more beer and try more from their menu especially the pretzel. The service is really fast and prompt so be ready to order otherwise the waiter will come at your table often and will seem pushy so come with that state of mind-order first and...
Read moreGreat place for beer! I love how open this restaurant is, they have both outdoor and indoor seating. It's usually pretty packed especially after work hours since it's in downtown Mountain View but it's a great place to just relax and wind down.
I went here with a group of 4 to celebrate a friend's birthday. We were seated outside after waiting for half hour. They serve entrees and appetizers to go with your beer and since we were all hungry, we each got a plate of food. I got the fried chicken entree along with some fruit beer. I really enjoyed the fruit beer, I thought it was very fragrant and I could taste the strawberry without it overpowering the beer taste. I thought the chicken entree was alright, they give huge pieces of chicken! I also really liked the mashed potatoes that came with it. The dish was $22 dollars, and for that price, I didn't think it was worth it. The chicken tenders that my friend ordered were really good and the dipping sauces that came with it were awesome! My other two friends got the beer flight, one got the fruit beer flight and the other got the dark beer flight. Both of them enjoyed their beers :) It's also the perfect choice if you're indecisive!
I enjoyed my dining experience here. I would definitely come back! The service was great and they accept PayPal as payment so you don't even have to have cash or card at all, just pay using...
