My sister T for a few years now has raved about a Mexican restaurant in Mtn. View that she wanted the family to try. Over the years for one reason or another getting the family there just did not happen. After getting my youngest son to work and then picking up food for the furry family (two beautiful yet extravagantly spoiled cats) we decided ok this is the night to try T’s recommendation.
We looked up the menu to La Fiesta, checked with both of my sons as to what they wanted then T called in the order and we headed over to Mtn. View. First impression of the outside “ Ok sis, this charming”. Then as we walked to and through the entrance we were greeted with an array of holiday decorations guaranteed to bring smiles to the grinchest Grinch and scroogest Scrooge!
We were warmly greeted by two employees (a man and a woman) who let us know our order was being packed up. As my sister and I waited; I explored. In addition to the wonderful holiday decorations the restaurant is full of absolutely stunning artwork. I was completely enthralled. I’m sure I sounded like an annoying broken record as I kept saying “wow this is amazing”. Turns out the man who greeted us is the genius behind the decorations and the art.
I had not had a bite of food yet but La Fiesta was already firmly secure in my top of the top places.
T and I gave our thanks and headed out. The aromas that filled the car on our drive home were pure bliss. We arrived home, did the Covid clean, dug into the bags to separate the dishes and then finally it was time to eat.
We are not a family known for holding back our views on food. If we don’t like it, we are not rude but we will not eat it and we will not return.
I took my first bite. I took my second bite. I looked at my sister and I let her have it. How dare she brag on this restaurant for years and not find a way to insist we go. I told her she was wrong for keeping this gem hidden. I will be honest and say the words I used were not words I can or will use in this review.
I highly recommend La Fiesta. What an incredible gem. The food is so amazingly delicious. We had a smorgasbord of dishes; Chile verde, flautist, burrito, fajitas, taco, flan, beans and rice, chips and salsa, lemonade and a margarita. I cannot wait until the day we are whole and hearty in this country or at least this state so I can experience dinning in. La Fiesta has several life-long patrons within this family. And big kudos to my sis for finally sharing this...
Read moreWent for dinner on a Friday evening, they said reservations is done only for parties of 6 or more but they said we could call in when we are 5 mins from the place and put our name down in the wait list. I called in when I was 5 mins from the place but the person who picked up was pretty rude and said we are pretty busy just come in and wait. After I got there it wasn't clear how we were supposed to add ourselves to the wait list, the person at the first desk was not responding to any queries, he just seemed busy going around looking for free tables and calling folks who were waiting. After a 15 minute wait he said just add your name to the list. We added our names for a party of 5 and waited outside. People were being called in and we noted folks who arrived after us were called in but not us. After about 30 mins I went in to check and asked him why we were not being called and he looked at the list and said oh! a party of 5 and said come along your table is ready (not sure why he did not call us in the first place). After all this wait I was hoping the food would make it worth it. We ordered chicken enchilada, fiesta burrito (veggie), Enchiladas de Camarones, Pollo al Chipotle. Everybody felt their dishes were pretty average nothing great to warrant the long wait and unpleasant service.
Not sure why one of my friends recommended this place and raved about the food. I probably will not go...
Read moreA co-worker recommended this restaurant. First time there. There was 5 of us... Salsa was super hot! Chips were too too hard. Originally, I ordered a Hard Taco and quesadilla combo plate. My quesadilla was not cooked thru and my crispy taco fell apart at first bite. That was so Disappointing. They offered to make me something else and suggested "Grandmas enchiladas." It came just as everyone else was done with their food. My mom, got Flautas. Chicken was white meat but dry, very dry and bland. My sister and her husband got chile verde. It was good to them. My nephew got quesadilla plate. The quesadilla was smothered in quacamole and he is allergic. They made it over. His plate was quickly fixed with a new quesadilla. Back to my plate... it was ok. The grandma sauce was tasty. The chicken was breast but also dry with not much flavor and overall plate was not warm enough. Was disappointed to not get a discount even though waiter had said he took off the price of my plate, but that was just the first plate that I DID NOT Eat. Overall... gave 3 stars since waiter was nice and helpful. Also, the woman (maybe boss / owner) was fast to help us all be happy. Also the water guy gave us water and...
