The good: We went in today for lunch. Walked in around 10:45-ish. To their credit, the store inside was nice. Seemed fairly clean, well lit, & overall a nice spot.
There were 3 struggling employees at opening. Nobody said 'hi', "Be with you in a moment," "Kiss my foot," nothing. We waited for the girl to get off the phone at the register. She was very nice.
The Bad: We ordered at 10:50 & sat to wait. They had a lot of mobile/Uber eats orders, etc. The 3 employees stumbled all over themselves. One girl, Summer - from her nametag, was trying to do everything & tell the other 2 what to do. Once our food was ready (15 mins), we picked it up at the counter & walked outside to eat. Why, you might ask? Just before our food was done, 3 more employees came in. One of them, who I assume was a manager guy in a black jacket, strolled to the back & turned on house music so loud I couldn't hear myself think. My wife & I shared a large pepperoni meatball sub. Advertising shows this on a TOASTED garlic butter roll. They did NOT toast the roll at all. It was a soggy mess. They seriously need to check their food safety standards. The cheese was melted but was stone cold in the middle. The marinara was lukewarm. Biggest detractor, the meatballs. SO cold. Wasted sandwich.
The UGLY: Staffing, management, competency, humility, & appreciation. ALL severely lacking. Remember that girl, Summer, that was the only one of the 3 employees who knew how to make sandwiches? Well she was apparently the shift leader for opening that morning. We got so annoyed listening to her literally yell and demean her coworkers we got up and took a pic of the sign under the register about letting management know about your experience. (The link doesn't even work.) As a matter of fact, the very first thing we heard as we walked in to this location for the very first time at 10:45am this morning was her YELLING at a poor guy in the back, âHurry up and get out here, youâre taking too long!â Literally, word-for-word. The younger guy stumbled from the back, clearly nonplussed with her demeaning choice of words & attitude. He was new & clearly still learning. He hadnât been taught well whatever task it was he was doing. He came and stood right next to her, didnât say a word the whole time we were there, & barely moved unless directed EXACTLY what to do. Poor guy. Seemed like he was ready to walk out. Example 2, girl yelling at her employees: Several people walked in about 10 minutes after weâd been there, before 3 others came in at 11. She clearly felt overwhelmed & yelled at the other 2, âDo yaâll not know how to do ANYthing?â
When the 11am shift walked in, she (in front of every customer & other employees) loudly exclaimed, âFinally! We need some help, none of them know what theyâre doing!â How tacky, demoralizing, & uncalled for. I would have quit immediately. I have always been taught, from my much younger retail and customer-facing days that you NEVER have those kinds of conversations or comments in front of customers. Itâs just terrible. Some folks clearly cannot handle any positions of authority or holding âpowerâ over others.
This particular Firehouse is in DIRE need of competent management & some form of a training program. These employees were floundering being left on their own. You may ask why we didn't refuse the sandwich, go in & talk to a manager? They were too busy to care. We didn't get a 'hello, welcome in' or a 'thank you, come again'. We were also on our lunch break & didnât have another 15-20 minutes to wait on them CORRECTLY making a new sandwich. Weâll just have to hope these cold meatballs were properly stored & that we donât get sick because of poor food safety standards.
This is my 2nd, and unfortunately, FINAL time to ever go to...
Read moreI noticed that someone named Zach said the only reason he gave them a 3 star was due to them giving to fire fighters. I personally will NEVER set foot in ANY of the stores owned by these owners! I made sure that NONE of my pro, college or high school athletes buy from them again. SEVERAL times I have asked for donations or discounts for law enforcement or youth and several times the owner did not even respond! I have known the Sorensen family since they had their first store in my hometown of Jacksonville, Florida. They sold the company but I will and still do support ANY Firehouse location EXCEPT these owners! GREED! A couple of months ago i asked the greedy owner to donate but would have bought from them even if it was a discount but crickets! The Sorensen family would hate to hear this. It makes me think that maybe I should get a group together from our pro athletes and become direct competitors to his stores!! We actually had gotten Jersey Mike's to give a discount for the sandwiches. The thing is, they STILL would have made money from our group that was raising money to support local law...
Read moreI just want to give a shout out to the lady that took my order today and saw it out to make sure that I would get what I'd ordered just the way I wanted it âşď¸. I had a special request for my order and it was kind of confusing to explain, but this lady quickly understood what I was meaning. She even made a point to come to the register once she realized it was me picking up the food, and explained how she'd made sure the order was exactly how I wanted it and I didn't even have to ask or check to prompt her to come over! I work in customer service and am a manager. I would hire her in a heart beat based off the service and personal touch during my visit. I would love to describe her and I hope her managers see this. She was taking to gos and I think her name started...
