As I sit here eating my leftovers from last night, I am compelled to give this review!
We've eaten here twice. The first time, we were slightly bewildered at the complimentary array of apps set in front of us. There is a noodle soup with corn (delish) , a queso of sorts that's peppered, chips and salsa. They have regular white queso for purchase and when I tell you it's fresh and real cheese, believe it. It was solidifying as it cooled on the table and it was delicious.
We decided to make the drive again last night and I left even more impressed than the first time.
I ordered the quesabirria, hubby got chicken fajitas and our friend ordered chicken enchiladas with sour cream sauce. They appear to be making EVERYTHING absolutely fresh as it's ordered. The sour cream enchiladas looked like that sauce was whipped up right then. There were bits of sour cream throughout.
My husband's fajitas were super tender and flavorful and my quesabirria was without question the BEST I've had anywhere. It's packed with fresh slow-cooked shredded beef and cheese, then dipped in consumme and fried until crispy. The consumme is good enough to drink and has chunks of beef in it.
Our friend doesn't care for beans so she ordered corn and rice. My mouth was on the floor when they brought it out. Not Holy frijoles but STREET CORN?! That's a 10/10!
Also the rice. It's just rice right? No. No it isn't. It's perfectly moist and tender and flavored like someone's abuello is in that kitchen, God bless her.
The aesthetic of the place is confusing; part fancy restaurant, part sports bar. It's beautiful and very nice but the combo makes me feel welcome to wear my leggings and crocs 😊.
You are definitely going to spend a little more on your meal here than down the street, but only dollars more, and the portions are huge and the quality alone is worth it!
I only gave four stars for service because it is inconsistent. While our server was on top of refilling our drinks, he was little forgetful 😊.
Part of me doesn't want to share how great this place is because, crowds. But we can't let this one slide through the cracks!...
Read moreThis is not like the other cookie cutter Mexican food places. This place offers unique flavors from the unexpected complimentary soup to the variety of available salsa's and queso, everything truly tastes authentic and homemade. The sour cream sauce was perfect, thick and flavorful. Also, the initial salsa they bring out is packed with flavor and is very mild but as a person who loves spicy they brought out some decently spicy salsa alternatives with less overall flavor but had good kick. The queso reminded me of homemade white gravy.... which sounds odd but it was crazy good as well. There were many other details that that made this location stand out to me but this is already way too long. The only things that were not "special" was that the rice is the same as you would get anywhere else. It's good, just not unique. The other thing is that they charge over a dollar for sopapillas. The sopapillas come out hot and have a light chocolate strawberry drizzle so they are special but may catch somebody off guard with the extra charge. All things considered though I think I've found my new favorite Mexican...
Read moreThere was no wait and we were seated quickly, offered a table or a booth. Clean and inviting atmosphere, simply but nicely decorated. They offer plenty of seating and a sectioned off bar area with high tops. Service was fine, but nothing beyond what was required. Filled our drinks once and didn’t really offer anything else but was quick to take our payment when it was still in my hands at the table. I had yet to set it to the side to be picked up.
Sopita and salsa are good but salsa has what appears to be Italian seasoning or tomato sauce in it and throws you off at first. Queso is extra, we ordered a large at $8. Chips were crispy but needed a little salt.
We had the Pork Street Tacos and the Burrito Percheron (STEAK, RICE, BEANS, SOUR CREAM, GUACAMOLE INSIDE. WRAPPED IN BACON) both with rice and beans. Food was decent, very basic, lacked in seasoning and everything needed salt. Rice did have some crunchy bits though. We will give them another try but know better...
