How this place has 4 stars is beyond me. I arrived with my family and as we were on our way in so were 4 other car loads. Im thinking its valentines day gonna have a wait and here goes a bunch of people. Well we were taken care of with in 10 minutes of being inside my family of 5 was at a table and so were all the groups infront of us. The service was great and everyone was very friendly. As we were sat we were given chips, salsa, tortillas and some warm sauce/cheese looking stuff..
Thats where it went downhill. My wife and I couldnt really put a finger on what the weird warm sauce was and if it was for the chips or the tortillas? Or maybe both? Not sure... Until we went to order and the waiter asked if we would like Cheese sauce or "Chicken sauce"..? Very confused as he went around the table and no one seemed to fully understand what he was asking maybe due to his thick accent but on my turn I definitely chose cheese sauce.
As the food arrived I saw my wife's and daughter's covered in chicken sauce which looked alot like the warm sauce that was given to us along with the salsa in the beginning. I then received my dish and realized it was also smothered in this so called chicken sauce not cheese sauce which at this point im convinced wouldn't have changed the taste of the food enough to matter. My wife and I both ordered beef enchiladas that came out as just cheese even tho the waiter repeated the order back to us as he wrote it down.
To say the least this place is awful I cannot believe this is considered mexican food.
Stop the chicken sauce. Like foreal...
Read moreWhere do I start? The Hot salsa is out of this world. You have to ask for it, special. Warm and super spicy, it focuses on the habenero and blows others away. The normal salsa that comes with the meal is also very good. It is onion centric with cilantro and garlic and it's finely chopped not pureed as some places salsa's are. The queso has just the right amount of chicken broth in it to really wake it up. This time I ordered the bisteak and camarones. For $13 you get a gigantic, 12 oz steak cooked perfectly. Savory with a hint of spice and salt. The chile relleno that my wife got was served with fajita meat instead of hamburger! Very high quality meat just enough fat to flavor but no gristle to ruin it. The rice..you don't think much about the rice sitting on your plate do you? Normally, neither do I. Many Mexican restaurants serve mushy, tasteless Mexican rice. Here, the rice is cooked El Dante like a good pasta. Each grain separate from the next. Seasoned just right, not bland yet not overwhelming. If there was one thing I would do slightly different, I would put a little less breading on the chili relleno. I am probably in the minority there though. Most people like a heavy breading I think. Overall, It's worth the drive to mustang for a great Mexican meal. We have definitely found our new favorite...
Read moreI work nearby and usually eat here once a week. Since they have moved into the new location service and quality have dropped significantly!! I know bigger building, more room to cover. It's going to slow down the service a little bit until they get used to it. The portions have shrank by almost half since the move. Today I went for lunch and ordered the steak chimichanga, as I already do. After the first bite I gagged and almost lost it. I pulled a piece of steak out of the chimichanga and smelled it. I almost lost it again. It was rank!!!! I told the waiter and he asked me if I wanted them to remake it. There is no way I could eat after that. I told them no and he took it back. No apologies just took the plate and would not make eye contact with me the rest of the time my coworkers ate. They brought out the bill and my food was on it. I told the lady at the register what had happened and she said ok well it will be $4.34 for the setup. I almost had a come apart. They charged me over half the price of my lunch for a 20 cent bowl of cheese, a basket of stale chips, and my glass of water. They will never see another dime...
