A thousand bravos!đđœđđœ
Wonderful execution by the newest addition to the up and coming downtown Myrtle Beach in the Arts & Innovation District. Local sommelier Lisa Lee and local chef Jamie Daskalis have knocked it out of the park. Both well traveled and highly trained, The Tasting Room on 9th is the wonderful brainchild that big cities normally are the beneficiary of, but now the smallest big city in the East coast has the privilege of enjoying. As soon as you see the logo on the front of the facade, you can already tell something special is inside. Walk in to be greeted by modern chill electronic type music and a host with a smile that says âwelcome yâallâ but a uniform and composure that says âso glad to see you, right this way.â Take your pic of bar seating, street window fronting club chairs, small high top tables, wall side conversational set ups, or a back room that also doubles as a private room you can even rent out for special occasions. Lisa is a highly talented wine connoisseur who has personally picked every wine in the establishment. You can do a 3, 6, or 9 ounce poor ranging from very affordable to more upscale and even fine level dining. Beyond that, there is a separate bottle menu that you need to ask for, and has a private note of how thought out the menu is from Lisa herself. The menu is a journey created by Jamie and Lisa together I am sure. Menu is mostly gnosh, tasting, type cuisine. Perfect for happy hour, a dinner of tapas, or a light night classy spot to wine(see what I did there) down. Highly recommend the Frigginâ Manchego Flat(bread), fresh local bread, Paint it Red(a charcuterie that punches way above its price point), and the Dark Chocolate âFudgeâ for dessert. We are normally old world deep red fans, but tonight we decided on a lighter Purple Hands Lone Oak Ranch Pinot Noir. Beyond wine, enjoy fabulous cocktails including house made infusions, and for the hop lovers, Lisaâs husband curated a beer list from his travels around the world during his military service and beyond. Sorry folks, no danger of Michelob Ultra rearing its low carb head here. Kiersten was a fantastic server, and everyone seems to look forward to learning more about wine. Beyond excited as a local to have a great place like this within walking distance of home, and exactly the kind of place this...
Read moreWe apparently, and obviously, visited on the wrong day. TR was celebrating Christmas in July, which is fine. However, there was a fixed drinks menu meaning if you wanted a vieux carre, as an example, you could not get one. I almost had to beg to get an Old Fashion. The wine, which is served via a dispenser, was a bit of a turn off too. It seemed like getting a sample of wine wasn't an option to see if you liked the wine but, then again, while there were at least 7 people working they didn't seem to be on the same page, and they didn't pay attention. It could be that the booze bus group was in there screaming, although being so drunk, they literally thought they were whispering. Or the group next to us who, while not drunk, had one guy who talked so loudly it was impossible to hold a conversation. I looked over at them one time and they literally gave me the finger. One guy gave me the finger from both hands. So, the atmosphere was like a dive bar, not an upscale wine room. Lastly, since this is located in the Grand Strand area of Myrtle Beach (tourist central), be prepared to spend a lot of money. For two 3oz wines, one regular Old Fashioned and one Blantons Old Fashion the bill was over $70.00. The Blantons OF cost $29.00. For reference, a 750 bottle of Blantons cost $48.00. A regular OF is $16.00. I cannot remember the last time I spent $70.00 on 4 drinks, especially in the...
Read moreThe Tasting Room on 9th truly offers an unforgettable experience! I recently attended a private wine tasting event with only 12 guests, and every detail was impeccable. The intimate setting was perfect for savoring each course and learning about the thoughtfully selected wine pairings. The menu was a work of art. We began with a delightful bread course paired with a Pierre Gimonnet âCuvĂ©e Cuis 1er Cruâ Brut Blanc de Blancsâan ideal start. The second course featured two perfectly fried oysters with truffle aioli and smoked paprika, which were beautifully paired with Domaine Nudant Ladoix. Each bite was packed with flavor! A standout was the seared scallop with acorn squash purĂ©e, complemented by a 2017 Oddero Barolo âConventoâ. The dish was perfectly balanced with a touch of chive oil and spiced pumpkin seeds. The roasted duck breast with duck demi-glace, pickled cherries, and onion ash was rich and comforting, especially alongside Domaine de Chateaumar âCuvĂ©e Bastienâ. The final courseâa unique olive oil cake with stone fruit jam and mintâpaired with Brooklynitesâ GewĂŒrztraminer, was the perfect end to the evening. The flavors were bright and refreshing, with just the right hint of sweetness. The Tasting Room on 9th exceeded all expectations, offering a remarkable dining and wine experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a unique, intimate...
