Please save yourselves and do not go. My family's experience here was a parade of horribles! First we walked in and were greeted by a 2 inch roach on the wall near our table. That should have been our clue to leave, but we had heard this place was good. Unfortunately we decided to stay and we ordered. Things went from bad to worse. Each plate of food was brought out separately so no one started eating at the same time. When our waitress brought my husband's plate, instead of serving from the side, she reached across the table and she knocked over his entire glass of tea onto his clothes and into his shoes. The plate of food she was handing him went all over the table. She cleaned up the mess and apologized and said she would get him a new plate of food. In the meantime, I had received my food and started to eat my fish that was supposed to be flounder. It did not look like flounder, so I turned it over to see if there was skin on the other side. When I turned it over there was A HUGE FRIED HAIR affixed to my fish. I told the waitress and instead of taking my plate away, she took the piece of fish and said she would bring me another one. Meanwhile, 2 of my kids had no food and my husband was still waiting on his food to be cooked since has first plate was spilled. We waited until we all got our plates, and the new piece of fish with no hair, and then each took one bite each. The shrimp my daughter got was imported, the salmon my other 2 children got was as dry as sawdust, and "flounder" we got tasted like carp (like crap, but also like carp); it was definitely not flounder! We then asked for our check and were charged full price for everything. Not to mention my husband ordered a Corona which was $3.75 and he received a 7 ounce beer. So much for supporting...
Read moreWhat can I say about this place? My girlfriend and I took her 7 year old on vacation to Myrtle Beach. The moment we mentioned the beach, he said crab cakes. We waited till the last day of vacation to go get crab cakes. This was a place I had chosen specifically because of the reviews on their Crab Cakes.
We get there and it's a pretty small place. 3 employees. 1 (the manager or the owner, unsure), a waitress, and 1 cook. Not a very large place, maybe 8 tables. You choose your own seats. Bathrooms are WAYYYYY in the back of the restaurant. We sat down and we had to wait a few minutes for our orders to be taken, but that didn't bother us. Sweet Tea was nice, not too sweet. We waited and waited, turns out our ticket got lost! The owner/manager apologized and told us how long it would be. It came out EXACTLY in the 12 minutes he said.
Now, let's talk about the food. Handcut fries, delicious slaw, fried and grilled shrimp sandwiches to die for, but the main thing you should go for? CRAB CAKES. The lunch special gives 1 crab cake with 2 sides. This 7 year old DIED from happiness. Not a single word out of his mouth except for how good it was. They have a special dipping sauce for the crab cake that was equally delicious. Everything seemed super fresh. The shrimp had none of that rubbery frozen texture, the fries were amazing with the vinegar, and the slaw complimented the bread and shrimp on the shrimp hoagie amazingly.
When it came time for the check, the owner/manager apologized and gave us a discount without us even asking. The waitress saw my girlfriend trying to take a picture of us all and immediately offered to take it for us.
Overall? 100 out of 5 stars. We've decided to make this place a Myrtle Beach tradition! Do yourself a favor, go. Order...
Read moreBeen wanting ot go to Mrs. Fish since I visited my mom this fall. Because of the off season the restaurant was only open until certain times, so it may it difficult to visit. However, because of their great menu and prices I knew eventually I would make it here!
So, my mom and I went for it on a hot and sweltering day we entered Mrs. Fish. The restaurant was empty except for a couple of people and we were warmly greeted by our waiter James. My mom decided to get the fried grouper with green beans and hush puppies. I got the blackened grouper with green beans, coleslaw, and hush puppies. The grouper surprised me as it had a mild and sweet taste--very delicious! The fried grouper batter was super light and had a nice crunch to it. Blackened was not very salty and had a great taste as well popped well with the Tatar sauce that tasted homemade.
The green beans were obviously canned, but washed and with a little salt and pepper paired well. The hushpuppies were delightful and not overly greasy or salty. The coleslaw could've used some tlc as it was not creamy or flavorful at all.
Minus one star for the coleslaw and the bathrooms that need some updating. The service was great though as James was so kind and made us feel right at home. Will be back for more Fish and...
