Fresh Brewed Coffee House — Restaurant in Myrtle Beach

I’m from out of town, so I didn’t know about this coffee shop prior to seeing it and I try to support local businesses, but this business is overrun with homeless people. I saw a young boy with no shoes on, sleeping curled up on a chair. There was no place to sit down to enjoy my coffee. I had to get it to go. Even still, as a woman, I would not have felt comfortable sitting inside surrounded by strange homeless men. I looked up homeless shelters in Myrtle Beach and there are several including a men’s only homeless shelter. So if you really care about people who are living on the street then help get them off the street and send them to a shelter! Don’t shelter them inside your place of business because it’s not good for your business. You can make more money by cleaning up the place and then donate your profits to homeless shelters. I walked into this place, and immediately it felt like home should feel. I moved here from Los Angeles about 1 year and a half ago, and I've been looking for my niche here ever since. I found this coffee shop to be the most relaxing place to sit down with a sigh of relief, some great coffee, and a pen and a notebook. It was an unexpected surprise to learn of their mission to help those in need, that really struck a chord with me. I'm really wanting to check out their open mic night on Thursdays, I feel like I might hear something real. I definitely recommend this place. If you are expecting a cute chill coffee shop as I was, this is NOT that place. The people are nice, don't get me wrong, and they're doing good work. However, this is a nonprofit that is ground zero for the homeless population of Myrtle Beach. They were sleeping in the shop and all around the building. Also, the products that are used in the food and drinks are donations from local markets. The latte I ordered was made with SPOILED oatmilk. I almost vomited. They were apologetic and offered a refund. I just wish I was prepared and knew what I was getting into as a non-local.
