Taquitoes el Jaliscience
For my weekly excursion to learn the restaurants of Nacogdoches Taquitoes el Jaliscience was selected. This week was my first taste of true Mexican food. Highly recommended by others that this is the real thing.
First off I wanted to try their Taco. Ordered a flour Taco with Sausage aka Chorizo. Server advised I can add to the Taco the ingredients on the table for making your own Guacamole.
Also provided with a plate of Grilled potatoes and onions. Very nice flavor and enjoyed.
The Torta Milanesa was ordered with Chicken; Beef can be ordered. A large portion filled with Lettuce, Tomatoes, Cilantro, Onion, Cheese, Beans, and Milanesa.
For me the food Is not at my level of spice but you are provided with what Is needed to kick it up including sauces.
First time drinking and enjoying Aguas Frescas. Tried the Melon flavor; tasty and not too sweet.
Obviously the herbs are hand cut and the food is like home made. Everything is fresh. Portions are very nice and filling. Had to obtain a people bag. Also delivered to my wife three floured Tacos. She grew up here and loved them.
Service could not be better. And you do get a Big Bang...
Read moreGreat place! They are known for their street tacos and I will say they did not disappoint!! My mom and I both got the chicken street tacos and the meat was excellent - seared to a nice brown and chopped up very fine like street taco meat should be. The cilantro and onions were very fresh as was the yummy pineapple pico they serve in lieu of tomato pico. The corn tortillas were obviously homemade and had a lightly chewy perfect texture. The service was friendly and fast. The only areas they could really improve in are the tortilla chips they bring out as soon as guests are seated - they were rather dry and flavorless, and they weren't warm. I'm not saying the chips have to be homemade but these reminded me of the bottom shelf store bought tortilla chips. Also the tacos themselves, while very fresh, were a little lacking in flavor themselves. And there was no salt on the table. But at least they provide 2 different sauces as well as guac and a big pile of jalapeños to accompany the tacos. So there is pretty much something for every taste. Overall this was a great experience, a fast fresh meal and we...
Read moreThe food was fine, but the service was absolutely disgraceful. My friend and I came here to eat. I speak Spanish fluently, while my friend understands it more than he speaks it. We were greeted in Spanish, so we responded in Spanish. During the order, I had to translate a few things for him, which should not be a problem at any decent establishment.
What was a problem was the behavior of the staff. As soon as our server walked away to the kitchen, we could clearly hear the staff laughing and mocking my friend’s Spanish. Loud enough for us to hear, and trust me, we did.
It was disgusting. I’ve never experienced something so disrespectful, especially coming from members of our own community. There’s absolutely no excuse for mocking a paying customer trying to communicate respectfully in your language.
If your staff thinks it’s acceptable to laugh at and bully someone for not speaking Spanish perfectly, they have no business working in hospitality or with the public at all. Unprofessional doesn’t even begin...
