Came in to celebrate a anniversary, it was surprisingly packed .. we had a 35 minute wait for a table...which was fine because we didn't have a reservation.. The restaurant is beautiful and spacious.. I was also told by the very friendly hostess that they accept reservations and it is recommended ( a good thing to remember if you can preplan ahead) the waitress we had seemed to be distracted and busy from the moment we sat.. after waiting 20 minutes for the waitress to even come to the table we ordered and then waited another 35 minutes to just get our drink order, we ordered the"bourbon old fashion "it was straight up liquor forget any simple syrup, tasted yuck and I don't mind a stiff drink but this was undrinkable.. we told our waitress but she didn't offer to exchange it or at the least have it prepared correctly or just have them add soda..?? I finally ran her down to order a soda which I said was for the incorrectly made drink ,that took another 15 minutes to be brought out and we were charged $4 for the soda, which is wrong to have done...we were trying to celebrate so though the wait time was very long for appetizers and dinner I normally could look over that with no issue but the woman waiting on us though not downright bad was just so negligent in checking on us or providing good service that it really took away from our experience and an expensive dinner for food that wasn't even worth the price paid... As for the food" the salad was fresh" and the blue cheese dressing was awesome ..the scallop appetizer was really expensive and had only 3 scallops served on a bed of seaweed, it was ok but would had been better if not for the very hot sauce that was all over the plate.. it overwhelmed the dish and was upsetting more because we verbally requested no spice on it...the main entres arrived 45minutes after that after finishing the apps.. and the meals were ok, the tuna cooked medium rare was delicious, but that was it..and I wouldn't recommend the crab cakes..( being a lifelong resident of Hatteras island I know the difference between good crab and not..) they were barely ok but the crabmeat was stringy more like claw meat and there was more filler than crabmeat.. ("ridiculous priced I was charged over $40 dollar's for 2 small cakes") I will say the mash-potatoes tasted good but were cold.. I was totally disappointed for I expected more for the cost..and eating at the previous location it was good but this was a 2nd bad experience ... I wished I had ordered a burger for it's hard to mess that up and wouldn't have broke the bank as well... As for appearances the decor was nice in general.. and the bathrooms were clean.. but the service overall was not good and the waitress who though underserved still received a 30% tip .. I probably would never return since I've this has happened more times than not in season and off season.. maybe locals returning to dine isn't important, but warnings to other diners is important and maybe someone will smartly read mine & other honest reviews and if not there for expensive decor but to enjoy good food will avoid here if they want a affordable tasty meal . there's plenty other places up and down this area that are worth checking out..like " Tale of the Whale" or Lone cedar " Sugar Creek" all 3 only a few minutes south of your establishment and not disappointing like here.. to those who have liked there meals..well aren't you one of the lucky few.. wish I had the...
Read moreWe went in on a Wednesday night it was fairly busy we were told it would be an hour to an hour and a half for a table. In the meantime we decided to sit at the bar and have a few drinks until our table was ready. I had the sangria and the calamari which was good however the amount of flies by the bar area was pretty disgusting. We were a party of four and the other couple we were with had to sit at a different place at the bar and they decided to go ahead and order food after sitting there for about 30 minutes because they were hungry and didn't want to wait an hour or an hour and a half or a table. So of course right after they did so our table was ready they told the bartender that our table was ready and went ahead and closed out at the bar. The bartender told them no problem at all and they would have the food brought out to the table. The bartenders were not that great it was not that busy at the bar and we were ignored quite a few times. We finally get our table we order our food and the other couple was waiting for their food because they had ordered before us. I guess it was the manager I'm not sure she came and delivered the food that the other couple had ordered to the table and made a rude remark that they normally don't let people order food from the bar and move to a table...that comment was uncalled for all she had to do was deliver the food to the table for the customers with a smile who already paid their table at the bar mind you without an attitude! Mind you there are plenty of other places in the outer banks that we could have gone to eat however we chose to eat at that establishment and spend money! I do however find it hard to believe that other customers have not done this in the past and I honestly do not see what the big deal was when the whole table was paid for at the bar. I had the mahi-mahi BLT which was very good and their fries were very good as well crispy not soggy! The beautiful artwork in the restaurant made up for the rude manager. However, next time we are in town I do not think we will be visiting that location again. We visit quite often and we like to go out for a nice dinner and our tab is normally around $100 or more. Maybe she was having a bad night I'm not sure but it was terrible customer service coming from a manager or an...
Read moreUpdate 1/23/25 We came after the snowstorm and started out with a nice selection of appetizers (oysters rockafella, Calimari, brussels sprouts, fried The sandbargreen tomato with shrimp napoleon. And jerk chicken wings). Probably my favorite are the wings. For the main course we had the Sandbar with puppy drum, the tree hugger with a shrimp skewer and beans and rice, and a spinich/ arugula salad with fried oysters. We also had a Poloma which was quite tasty and half price beers. Ended up getting the Bluemoon on draft. We finished it off with keylime pie. Everything was delicious. Loved the jerk wings. Service was fantastic. Everyone was very friendly. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. Service was spot on. The ambiance was very casual. I will definitely be back.
Great seafood. Enjoyed the oysters rockefeller. Update 12/28/21 We came early to ensure we could get a seat. The resturant is popular and fills fast. Exceptional Service. Folks very friendly and helpful. Never once had to ask for any refills or Sauces or anything. We started out with crab dip with toasted pita (very delicious). I had the special "The sandbar 30" which consisted of fried black drum, fried clam strips, blackened shrimp. This was served with fries and coleslaw. The spicy remoulod sauce was delicious. I will say the clam strips were the best i have ever eaten. I also enjoyed a cup of the crab and blue cheese bisque and a small cesaur salad. This was delicious. I did not really taste blue cheese but overall very good. We also had the "Seaside Buccatini" which consisted of Buccatini pasta tossed in a pesto sauce with shrimp and scallops, long stem artichoke hearts, small tomatoes and spinich. This also had shaved Parmigiano reggianno cheese on top. This dish was amazing. Lots of flavor. For dessert we had a cheesecake with coffee. The coffee is a blend from. A local coffee shop "Morning view". Which is made for this restaurant. I enjoy there Morning view coffee anyway. This was a bonus to...
