Cove Realty The hostess with the grossest!
Rented Ruth's Haven, 119 Pioneer st in Nags head, April 22-29th. We arrived at around 1am and found a filth so bad that we couldn't unpack. I sent my husband out to look for bleach. I was hoping something would be open.,There wasn't. So I called the emergency number. The Lady that answered was the cleaning manager. She was apologetic and said they'd have someone out the next morning. Someone did show up. She came to the Door with a squirt bottle and a rag! I suppose she wiped down the tubs that made my hands white when I touched them. Also, she removed the gross chunk of something old that was not wiped up in the fridge. Honestly, she did much of nothing exept take pictures so, After she left, I spent another hour of my vacation bleaching doorknobs, handles and light switches, as well as anything else I could thing of, before i could even unpack, what i normally do soon as we arrived. I swept up piles of sand and debris. I left the place cleaner than it was when I came, but I still felt gross the whole stay, you can't wipe away that feeling once you see it. I felt as though all the covers and couches were nasty. You would think that with covid!!!... the cleaning lady told me that they spring clean once a year, and she told me what month that was, I can't remember because I could care less as I wouldn't stay with Cove again. So basically you are staying in whatever filth the people before you . They literally wipe what they see, removed trash and make beds. It's gross and unacceptable! Furthermore, the washing machine holds about 6 inches of water, no matter what setting. I found this out by adding something. I thought maybe it was that setting so i changed it the next cycle but got the same results. Fortunately, it didnt tear anytjing but it also didnt get all that detergent from our clothes. I reported all of this and Long story short, the manmanager, Falisha did absolutely nothing. She was super rude and on the defense, she was good at it, all the practice with mistreating other customers has paid off and her extreme lack of integrity is professional. She's super rude and sarcastic. She said she couldn't warrant any reason to give us any kind of discount for my having to clean a whole house on my vacation.. she kept assuming the house was not dirty and they did their job to prepare the house for quests, I'm assuming she didn't even look at the photos taken by the housekeeper. Honestly, she didn't care! When I told her about the washer , it seemed as though she was calling me a liar. She responded by saying "no one else has said anything, and it works"! She also made the oddest comment "its probably for saving energy? So in a way she admitted she knew? Im baffled, seriously? I plan to contact the owner of the property to let them know how it's being managed...
Read moreRENT ELSEWHERE. This house was honestly awful. Not at all what I was hoping for our vacation/honeymoon as we came down for two weeks and got married while here. This is the first and LAST time I'll be renting through this company - First off, the roaches. There were so. many. roaches. I've never encountered an issue like this and I've been coming down here over 15 years. A family member even owned a house down here over 30 years and they never had an issue with roaches because they cared for their property. The night we arrived roaches were in the kitchen/living room and in the kitchen cabinet. Called Cove that night and then again about 4-5 days later after ZERO follow-up and Terminex apparently stopped by 3 days after the first call to spray outside only (did we forget inside exsists.?) but no one was notified so who actually knows. We were told the spray lasts about 90 days so I don't see why homeowners aren't required to spray every 85-90 days, if renting, since pests are in the area. I had to pay a couple hundred dollars for a "spray fee" for my dogs but I have to deal with roaches.? It's disgusting. If I knew we were going to have so many roommates I would've asked them to help pay rent. All of our clothing/bedding was bagged and will be washed as soon as we arrive home so let's hope for Coves sake we don't take any of this with us. Also, don't walk under the steps to get to the backyard with your dogs or without shoes unless you want to cut up your feet. There's a ton of broken glass under there.
The beds were almost unsleepable. Uncomfortable and loud. We also had to sleep in separate rooms, no way you're fitting 7 people in this house unless they're all small children. The drawers in the kitchen were all off track/broken. There's broken trim and patch jobs all over the house - vents basically falling out of the ceiling. This could be a very nice house but it seems like it isn't cared for well, at all. I feel sorry to anyone that paid peak price for this place in the summer because it isn't even worth the lowest rental price.
Another big issue was with whatever disgusting tenants stayed here last. Upon reaching into the kitchen cabinets my hand was covered in grease from the pots/pans and spatulas were covered in leftovers. If you didn't want to hand wash there's a dishwasher here also. Seriously people, do better.
We ended up leaving a couple days early.
Pros are that the house is across the street from beach access and it's in a central area close to everything.
(We did call Cove and as stated above someone did come out from Terminex regarding the roaches - unless the home owner bought new beds and/or Cove sent someome to clean the last tenants dishes - the other issues were things we just had to deal with,...

This unit needs a MASSIVE cleaning and repair job done to it.
Cockroaches are so bad on the deck in the evening around the hot tub. It's unbearable to sit out and enjoy. It needs to be replaced, taken apart and sprayed or bombed. The lid of the hot tub, is so hard to manage, getting it on and off is a chore. Broken parts for the hot tub were off and laying around. The rode holding the top is broken has sharp edges sharpe enough to cut someone bad. The stairs to get into the tub slips out from under your feet us easy. This is VERY dangerous.
The bedroom down stairs with the one set of bunkbeds smells like someone vomited 🤢🤮in it. No one could bare to use it at all it stunk so bad. If it was cleaned , the job was not effective or thorough enough to get rid of the smell. I think that it might have been in the carpet. I definitely was not going to put my nose down there to smell. I just opened the door to the room and it hit you right in the face.
The kitchen lacked container for storage. No blender for making cocktails. Had to ask for a coffee maker. Which was provided. The one that was there in the house had no pot to it, and the burner part was rusted out. This could have been a fire hassard. Tile pieces in the kitchen were missing. Behind the fosset the tile repair job was two strips of white plastic glued to the counter. (REALLY)
Cabinet handles in the bathroom were loose and broken. Cabinets would not close well. They were crooked. Potholder provided were dirty and greasy.
No spare light bulbs to replace burned out ones for outside or inside. Missing light bulbs in lamps.Ceiling fan blades full of dust and dirt. Some furniture was so dirty, it should have been put out in the trash or replaced.
Door locks on the house needs repair. The one door, in the kitchen is very hard to lock. Some one could easily get in it.
Pool table cue sticks, there in only one that is straight. No 8 ball in the set.
Attached are multiple pictures of problems. I will send 2 or 3 sets of pictures in separate email. All attachments would not fit in this one email.
I will NEVER recommend this to any one I know or don't know. It was completely disappointing to stay here for the amount they charge.
The owner should be made aware of this place ASAP. The owner sould be so embarrassed and ashame of renting this place for the way it looks.
The rental company should drop this place as rental agents. This is so embarrassing for them as well. Disappointed...
