I was a little skeptical about using the Holiday Inn in Nags Head because of others negative reviews but I decided to stay and judge the experience for myself. Upon checking in my wife and I were greeted by Shayla, I am not sure if she was a manager but I can tell that she has been in the hospitality industry for awhile because she set the bar for the Hotel's remarkable customer service. She was very sweet, and so was the staff that served breakfast. Shayla allowed us to check in early and she also provided us an opportunity to check out a little later which helped us prepare for our long drive back to our location. People complained about cleanliness, I didn't see cleanliness issues in or out of my room. During my stay, the bed, bathroom and room was very clean. I always check hotel beds for hair and foreign matter, the sheets were very clean. I was happy to see that the staff at this location took pride in their guests stay. The hotel was quiet and the breakfast food was hot and in abundance. I am sure the people that complained here expected a 10 star breakfast, it wasn't a 10 star, but it was definitely worth waking up for. In summary, the hotel is worth the stay, time and money. I will definitely stay again. If you visit Nags Head, give a shot. If you are a manager of this location reading this review, you should definitely look at promoting Shayla. Thanks.

4th time visiting NC this year and after staying at the dump called the Sea Ranch resort, Shutters Inn and Surf Side hotel we finally found a gem. Im so upset with myself for spending money on these other hotels after staying at the Holiday Inn. They keep the hallways and rooms clean and tidy and free of sand, the breakfast is pretty damn good and the people are very friendly and accommodating. We had a top floor oceanfront room and the view was perfect. The shower never ran out of hot water, they have a underground wash area to wash the sand off after visiting the beach, they have coffee and snack in the lobby for midnight snacks, plenty of parking. Unlike the other hotels/resort the Holiday Inn doesn't show the wear and tear. Lastly, love how they have a screened windows so at night you can open it and listen to the waves, only hotel that has that. This is our go to hotel for now on or until we find something better. Perfect balance between employees and comfort.

I was disappointed overall with our stay at this hotel. I was optimistic when we arrived as it is only steps away from the beach. We stayed here for one night while attending a nearby wedding that started at 4pm and the check in here is also at 4pm. We had gotten there around 3pm in hopes to get into our room slightly early, knowing it was a gamble. Everyone in front of us in the check in line were able to get the keys to their room, but we weren’t so lucky. This was frustrating, but understandable since the check in did say 4pm. Once we got to the room, I was extremely disappointed by the cleanliness, or lack thereof. There were stains and tons of holes on the bed sheets, hair alllll over the bathroom, and many stains on throughout the room as a whole. After a long day, it sucked to not have a place where I was truly comfortable to lay my head. If you plan to stay here, I would proceed with caution.

We stayed here for 4 nights on our first trip to Outer Banks and it was a great location. Our first impressions were soured by Deborah at the front desk who didn’t give us the great welcome feeling, but we didn’t let that deter our fun!||It is right on the beach and has it’s own beach access from the parking lot. Bring all your own beach accessories and since the access is right off the parking lot, you can store chairs and such in the car and grab them on the way out to the beach. There are also showers right off the beach, at the end of the building, where you can shower or wash sand off your feet. The parking lot is partially covered. There were plenty of parking spaces available during out stay.||We had a king room on the 4th floor (5 floors total), with an ocean view, which we highly recommend! There was a little balcony with 2 chairs and a table that you could sit out on and enjoy the sound of the waves! As you walk in the room, across from the bathroom was a whole wall of cabinets that included the closet. There was a microwave, Keurig coffee maker, and a fridge that had a separate freezer unit. Plenty of cabinet space to store snacks you might have for the beach! There were also 2 larger drawers that you could use for your clothes and a shelf under the bedside tables. It was very quiet in the room. The bed and pillows were very comfy! This room also had a couch and coffee table in front of it that pulled up to be at desk height.||The bathroom had a great shower with the glass doors and a little ledge along the end wall that you could use to put your foot on for shaving or washing. They had the Dove hair products and body wash which are secured to the walls, which I am in favor of – good choice of brand! We opted out of having housekeeping service each day by putting out a door tag and were able to grab fresh towels when we needed them. There was also extra trash bags in the trash cans so we could take that out if needed.||Breakfast was very on brand for HIE with the pancake machine, cinnamon rolls, 4 hot options (that changed daily), fruit, yogurt, cereal, breads, juice and coffee. All food was hot and fresh. The dining area was very clean and could get busy. The breakfast area and pool were located on the 2nd floor. The indoor pool was quite small (no hot tub) and we didn’t use it. |A perk we had not read about before was free laundry facilities. There was a washer and dryer located on the 3rd floor. You needed to supply your own detergent but they did have it for sale in the lobby. We did not use them but they did look very clean.||The location was great and very central to things from Bodie Island to Kitty Hawk. And Duck, Corolla, and Hatteras were just a little farther out in each direction. There were some very good restaurants close to this location as well, namely, Henry’s, The Dunes, and Miller’s Waterfront.||This was a perfect location since it was just the two of us and we were interested in exploring what Outer Banks...

While the outside of the building is certainly aged and has been exposed to the elements the inside has been renovated. The common areas and rooms were very clean. Staff was very friendly. No complaints with our room.

I would’ve provided a 4 or 5 star rating however, there were a few things have clearly been overlooked & the excuse of help cannot be used because I visualized an abundance of staff members seemingly doing the bare minimum when they could’ve been assisting in providing a better atmosphere for their guests.

a) Indoor Pool: needs some extra TLC. The weather did not permit us to enjoy the beachfront but only one day of our stay so we clearly opted for the pool. The facility was easily accessible however there was hair and trash all over the floor, the pool hadn’t been skimmed or cleaned in what had to have been days as evidence by floating substances in the pool. Unfortunately, I know that people don’t clean up after themselves but there were two young gentleman employed by the hotel who came inside but neither of them took the additional 5 minutes of time to acknowledge the trash or the floors that needed attention.

b) Traveling to an oceanfront hotel there is an expectation of travelers that exists and it would’ve been nice had there either been information on this particular locations website that listed these typical amenities (e.g., beach chairs, umbrellas, etc. or even a third party service that offers such services) OR even better yet it would be wonderful if they were offered directly by the hotel (for a presumable nominal fee).

All in all I offer my honest review at face value to the operator of the establishment but also for those like myself who scour reviews on google and like sites prior to committing for hopes that I may be able to make a more...

The property was average, the pier to the ocean was nice. Breakfast was average, plenty to choose from, the eggs were not so good, oatmeal was watery. The room itself was nicely sized, excellent view of the beach, AC was great. Needed cleaning from the beginning, floors mainly and the bathroom vent was clogged with dust. What the most challenging issues was with the front desk. We checked in on a Sunday, we booked for 4 nights initially through Expedia (we did call and request an additional day with hotel after the initial booking) we were told over the phone we could get the same room for an additional night and to just take care of it when we got there. So when we checked in they were oblivious to the extra night request. They said they could get us into another room with a balcony for the additional night. Fine, we can do that. So fast forward to Thursday morning I received a call from the front desk to the room, stating we could actually stay in the original room, awesome!! So we went out to enjoy the day came back to being locked out of our room. We went downstairs in a horribly slow elevator only to be told to try again with new keys and nothing, 5 floors up and down again we went back up a 3rd time with the maintenance guy and we got in. Last issue is I was charged twice for the extra room. It’s since been refunded, but had to wait days and that money was reserved for the kennel, for our dog. Just unprofessional, and caused undo stress the night before leaving. Outdated and nothing like the photos on...
