I don’t often post a review. I consider myself to be a pleasant, encouraging customer. We went to Morning View on Thursday, July 8, it would be our 4th visit for the week. We’ve been coming to the Outer Banks for our family vacation for 12 years now, and have included Morning View as a part of our experience for years. At home throughout the year I start my day with coffee in my Morning View coffee mug, somehow it brings wonderful memories. You all have truly made us feel connected, almost like extended family because of the way you engaged us and treated us over the years. We were devastated yesterday when we stopped for the 4th time this week. We stopped last year as well, during the pandemic several times during our vacation as well. It wasn’t nearly as busy, as my memory serves we were always the only customers in the store, but we came to support you and to get the best beverages in the Outer Banks. My wife and I also have intentionally been extremely generous in tipping during this time we know how difficult it has been on people in the service industry. We did last summer and we did yesterday as well.
So yesterday something went terribly wrong, to the point that you will never again have to deal with me or my family again. I placed my order as I always do, the others in the group did as well I paid and shortly we received our beverages. Now things get worse. When I tasted my drink something wasn’t right. I genuinely, politely asked if it was the right drink I was told abruptly that “It was what I ordered.” They had moved into the next order, it’s a wonderful system, efficient orders come out pretty quick moving from one to the next. I was obviously an unwelcome interruption. I said again trying to get some connection I’m not sure this is what I ordered. I was told if I wanted a different drink “I’d have to pay for it!” I responded sure, I’d be happy to do that. She seemed really angry with me. This could have been handlers in such a better way. First she could have professionally engaged me, we could have resolved the issue in a polite way. I know “the customer is always right” day has past, I don’t think it should have ever been that way in the first place but I wasn’t asking for anything extra, I didn’t want a refund I just wanted the beverage that I’ve gotten many, many times before. At each step things got worse, it was embarrassing for me, it was embarrassing for your staff, store and brand. I reordered my beverage, paid and waited. My drink came up and it tasted great. But at every turn it seemed the staff member wanted to be rude and unkind to me. I had left the drink that had not been made properly on the counter. The employee asked if I wanted to take it and I asked if she could just throw it away. She said in a very loud voice “If you want a refund I’ll give you one and you can never come back in the store.” What I thought? I had never once asked about a refund, not once. When she said I would have to pay for the drink I wanted I said fine, and I did. This wasn’t about the money.
Let me assure you you won’t have to ever again deal with me or my family ever again. I know you have plenary of business, lots of customers and you won’t miss us. You really don’t care. I guess that’s what makes it so sad. You spent years developing more thank a business relationship with us, you made us feel like family. We cared about you, and when the pandemic was happening last summer we patronized your establishment. My wife and I visited with you, we were the only customers in the shop for a long time. I suspect if your staff continues treating customers in this fashion your business may not be there much longer, or it may. You may simply dismiss this review. At any rate I’m going to replace that Morning View coffee mug with one from another coffee shop we’ve found. We ARE one of those families that you spent years investing in, developing a long term relationship with that is now gone. In one incredibly destructive, rude...
Read moreI want to start by pointing out customer service goes a long way. We waited for the woman to get off the phone because she was having issues with the register, which would have been fine had she been more pleasant while we were waiting, and acknowledged that we had been waiting for some time. Any communication at that point would have been nice, it might have saved us from getting ripped off in the end. Fast forward to ordering a 7 dollar cold brew with cream, let that sink in a bit, because I could have made 4 entire pitchers (a bag worth) and bought a carton of cream for the price we paid for 2. That is a lot of money for a coldbrew because we certainly weren't paying for the awesome service or peaceful, inviting atmosphere. I want to point out it was advertised as 4 and some change. The creamer, that is normally free or included with any coffee purchase at any coffee shop business nationwide. This place charges 2 dollars to put cream in your coffee. I noticed someone else complaining about what baristas charging not being consistent, really get it together, that's false advertisement. This nightmare coffee shop adventure ended with the employee, that charged us 4 dollars for cream and assisted the employee having register issues, slamming the back door in our face that was open before we even arrived. We will not be venturing back to this place when there are other coffee shops that give free cream and free customer service. This is a good way for people to support places like Starbucks over supporting local businesses. Also, the coldbrew was weak and tasteless, clearly they use cheap beans or don't brew it long enough and charge premium prices. Buyer beware I've read plenty of reviews about this place having poor customer service, being overpriced and/or inconsistent and the coldbrew not being strong enough, so clearly they have been problems for a long time and don't plan...
Read moreFirst off this rating is for one staff member in particular. Their product is very good and other staff members were very professional and kind.
But it is absolutely disrespectful to mock your customers due to your own mistakes. When asked our name we provided “Williams”, we wait approximately 10-15 minutes due to a high volume rush. Well the staff member had wrote “Royals” on our order so when the order was being called naturally we did not retrieve the items. An old rude, salty, and bitter female staff member mocks me and my wife when we inquire on our order and advise them our order was for Williams. She could be heard joking with other staff members “Well I called your order five times!” And continued laughing and mocking my family.
This was me and my wife’s second visit to this business. Our first experience was excellent and again, they have a great product. It was disappointing that a staff member couldn’t accept their own mistake and lowered themselves to mock their customers. We won’t be visiting this...
