Great food, lovely place: not so great waitress. So I drop into this lovely restaurant, on a Sunday evening in April, and get seated immediately. About 5 minutes in, a manager overseeing the dining room brings me a water: it is almost a full house, busy but NOT crazy-busy. About 5 minutes after that my waitress comes by with a glass of water saying ”Oh I didnt know they already brought you water…” as if that was a bad thing(?) and asked me what I want to drink. I said may I order now as well, and sure. Suchi roll and an order of sushi tako, Mich Ultra. She leaves and a minute later she asks me “Do you want nigiri or sushi?” I said “Nigiri”. I then went up to the sushi bar and looked at a menu (to make sure I am understanding her) because I think she just asked me if I want “sushi or sushi” NOT sushi or sashimi. She sees me and I say I would like sushi not sashimi, and she said “Oh my bad”. Ok, good. I am seated there for a total of 16 minutes (first-world problems, blah blah I know, but this is a nice restaurant, and a Sunday evening at the beach in April, not July) and I just want the bottle of beer I ordered. Hot day, long day, we at the beach👍🏻🍺 There is NOT a whole lot of backed up orders at the bar (bartender is a pro, shes on it), my young waitress just forgot my beer order. I did see her speak to the sushi chefs to change an order she put in (maybe mine?) Anyway, after not seeing her a bit I tell the lady who is overseeing that Id like to move to the bar (there are beers there!)…so I do. No fuss, not in a huff, first night a beach for chill evening out. Sit down, beer in
Read moreWe loved eating here the atmosphere is comfortable and inviting and the food was constantly cooked well. We would try to make a point to come at least once a month, but after tonight it will probably be a while before we come back. I understand the pandemic has made it difficult on small businesses so I understand raising prices, but they haven't just raised the prices. The portions are now considerably smaller and the prices are definitely higher. They started raising the prices and then slowly have made the portions smaller. I first noticed it with the soup, it was served in a much larger portion, now it is very small. Once you could get 8 crab rangoons, now it is only 5, which for an appetizer doesn't equally support but a family of 5. The shrimp are even smaller in size on the entrees, sushi, and kids meal. The food the last few times we've visited was not cooked to perfection either. I'm sure it has something to do with the fact that the portions are now smaller. I can stand behind raising prices, but making the dishes smaller on top of that seems a bit much. They used to give a military/veteran discount on the whole check, now only on the military/veterans food. They don't offer first responders or locals a discount either. This will make it hard to keep year round patronage with the raising of prices and lack of understanding that locals keep local...
Read moreIf you want to hear about a HORRID experience with outdated decor, poor service and disgusting food, you'll have to check out some other restaurant. WOW, this cozy gem is exceptional, marvelous! First, the decor (first impressions, right?) is "beach elegant" -- posh though unpretentious. Really good vibe, perfect for date night, family outing or business dinner/lunch. The sushi and Thai offerings were all proper, spot on -- colorful, vibrant in visual appeal and flavor. Caution: With so many outstanding choices, you'll have to return or have a large party and share. Their signature roll has real, locally sourced crab. Their tuna is also local. Finally, the service. A mother and daughter tag-teamed like champs! Miss Lynette promptly delivered the group's waters, which were "magically" refilled by her daughter Livia, our primary waitress. You'd have thought these two lasses owned the place, as they oversaw each table of patrons masterfully. Two in party were undecided (you won't believe the maki options -- incredible rolls!!), and Miss Livia gave them ample time to ponder asking the many great menu choices. Superbly accommodating, very kind -- again, like a proprietor would be! The caliber of the sushi chef and "back of house" was correctly EXPERT, same as Miss Livia and Miss Lynette. Go for a break, for a meal, the staff will deliver a...
