🌺 STOP EVERYTHING: Mo' Bettahs Just Broke My Taste Buds (In the Best Way Possible!) 🌺
Listen, I've eaten at more restaurants than a food critic with commitment issues, but Mo' Bettahs? This place just made me question every dining decision I've ever made.
Here's the deal: You know that feeling when you bite into something so ridiculously good that you immediately start planning your next visit before you've even finished chewing? Yeah, that's Mo' Bettahs in a nutshell.
The Food Game is UNREAL: Their kalua pig is so tender it practically melts before it hits your tongue (we're talking 10+ hours of slow-roasted perfection here) The teriyaki chicken thighs are marinated to the point where they should probably be illegal Don't even get me started on their signature teriyaki sauce – it's like liquid gold with attitude
But here's what really got me: This isn't some fancy-schmancy place trying to impress you with $30 entrees and microscopic portions. Mo' Bettahs delivers authentic Hawaiian flavors that'll feed your entire crew without requiring a second mortgage. We're talking serious bang for your buck – the kind of value that makes you wonder if they're running a charity disguised as a restaurant.
The Vibe Check: Clean? Check. ✅ Staff that actually gives a damn? Double check. ✅✅ Atmosphere that makes you feel like you're in someone's Hawaiian backyard? Triple check. ✅✅✅
Real talk: I've seen grown adults get emotional over their spam musubi. SPAM MUSUBI, people! When a restaurant can make you tear up over processed meat wrapped in rice, you know they're doing something magical.
Bottom Line: Mo' Bettahs isn't just serving food – they're serving up little pieces of Hawaiian paradise that happen to be ridiculously affordable. Your wallet stays happy, your family gets fed like royalty, and your taste buds get a vacation they'll never forget.
Rating: 11/10 (Yes, I'm breaking the scale because some experiences deserve it)
Trust me, your future self will thank you for making this your next dinner destination. Just don't blame me when you become a regular and start planning your week around their menu...
Read moreFood: rice was okay. Would have been nice to have some aloha shoyu to go with it. Mac salad is not Hawaiian Mac salad. It is bland and tastes of macaroni and Mayo. Nothing else. As someone who lived on Maui. This is what I was hoping would be the best. But it’s a let down. The kalua pork is waaaaay too salty. Is not supposed to be that salty. No flavor. Just salt. Also way too much grease and oil in the pan. Legit like 2 inches of oil floating above the meat. Teriyaki chicken was alright. Some sauce would have been nice. Never did get my sauce cups. As a whole, the food might fool some haolies, but it’s falling short. Amount of food was okay. Maybe do less rice and more Mac salad if you actually start doing Hawaiian Mac salad Also what’s deal with no loco moco
Service was okay
The place has an inhospitable feel to it. The way it’s laid out doesn’t make it feel welcoming at all. Feels closed in and wacked. Feels like I walked into a sick pale green long John silvers in a box from 30 years ago. Open it up, make it feel welcoming. Better lighting like a sun, maybe some Hawaiian music, if you are going to sell “Hawaiian foods” bring the part. Nothing in that place says Hawaiian. One would think you’d at least have a couple potted plants or something. Even fake stuff.
All in all, it feels and tastes like some haole came back to the mainland and thought he’d sell Hawaiian food how he thinks it should be made. My Tūtū would be mad...
Read moreReeeally good food. Their menu is simple, but what they do make is absolutely delicious. I got a mini plate with kalua pork and teriyaki chicken with double rice (I am gluten free and can't eat the Mac salad 🥲) and I loved everything. The meat was so tender and flavorful, with nice clfresh-off-the-grill taste. NY friend got the pork and the Katsu chicken, and she reports that the chicken is perfect with a delicious crunchy fry. She also said she loves how creamy the Mac salad sauce is. I was so hyped to see that they serve Hawaiian Sun! Nostalgic and refreshing and the perfect drink to accompany your meal (trust me, skip the fountain drinks, hawaiin sun is way better) they get bonus points for that for sure! They were crazy busy when we went in, but they worked so fast and got us through lickity-split. Nice workers, professional quick, and friendly. The atmosphere is standard shopping mall food place decore, and it was really loud with no music or anything. But it did not detract from the food or the service one bit so 5...
