Back Room Wines — Restaurant in Napa

At the beginning of the Pandemic Lockdown, State Stores in PA (our state has Commonwealth control of all wine/liquor sales) were closed. By chance, we saw Backroom Lines on the Internet. We selected some wines, since they carried one we liked, and placed an order. Shortly afterwards, Prashant Patel – their VP- contacted us to inquire about our order and see if he could help in any future selections. After communication, we conveyed our preferences (we like red wine, fruit forward, with a hint of sweetness) and he made some suggestions from their large inventory. He was “spot on”. Since then, we’ve maintained close communication with Prashant. He’s extremely helpful and responsive. Their website is very easy to navigate, and billing is via credit card. Orders arrive by FedEx, usually in just under a week. During the summer, temperature appropriate shipping was employed. When the Pandemic passes, we plan to travel to Napa Valley (their location) and a visit to Backroom Wines will be high on our itinerary. In summary – Backroom Wines is a very professional organization with a large selection of great wines at moderate and higher price points, and communication is a strong component of their success. Back Room Wines had the wine selection I was looking for and at a fair price so I decided to give them a try. I ordered my wine on May 5th and noticed instruction that shipping East of Colorado ship the following Monday. Monday came and no shipping information was shared. Tuesday came and no information was shared. Wednesday came and I sent an email asking for a status update and tracking information. No reply to my email, so I sent another email The following day asking for a tracking number. I told them I would file a dispute with my bank if they did not reply. Thursday came to an end without a reply so I canceled filed a dispute with my bank. The next day I get a UPS shipment notice. I just received the wine today, 05/20/2020. It took 15 days to get the product. I will never use this company again due to their poor communication and total lack of customer service. Buyer beware. We were looking for a new wine club to join but did not want to limit to one winery. Back Room had some good reviews and great location in the heart of wine country.

What started as a quick intro email to the store turned into a very personable reply from Prashant. He asked great questions which seems to have informed the wines he is including in our recurring shipment. It seems very bespoke which is so hard to find today in most wine clubs we've experienced.

For example, I Just LOVE LOVE LOVE this last shipment of wine. I can’t wait to try them! I am especially excited about the Source & Sink ( love the small release) and the Domain Lucien (CdP is something I want to learn more about).
