Rooms and location were great, but when it comes to service "cheap" is the first word that comes to mind. The room was comfy and quaint, the locations is walking distance from everything, but the staff don't know what they are doing. Ever pay $300 a night and get toast with two tablespoon of microwaved eggs on top and 3 strawberries as breakfast (on Valentine's Day)? Ever be told to get out or a $50 charge for each additional 30 minutes after checkout will be levied, mind you this is a 8 bedroom place and the 1 maid showed up at noon, 1 hour after checkout, with check-ins being at 3pm. They waited and charged us double for handing them the keys at 11:28am. The staff was the main issue. Cheap food, service, nickle and dime you, also all the rooms are the same size but they are hundreds of dollars apart in price. You can find a better place.
Edit: And now they are lying in their response. They waited to charge us, I watched the receptionist do it because I had to walk past her 3 times with the bags, also no help. We and our stuff was out of the room, she sat there with her coffee, pulled up my file a few minutes after the late charge time and charged us, without checking. Also they literally took my gf's ONE egg scramble toast and said "we'll microwave you a new one, give us 5 minutes" because it was so cold. All of there rooms are the same size too, there is a schematic on the second floor, don't pay for the "big ones". Maybe you should have done your job right and just not overcharged us. I also watched the maid drive up and park next to me while we were packing up. Yeah she was...
Read moreWe were really looking forward to our stay here. Each time we travel to the US we like to include a few "up market" bed and breakfasts. Their style is usually unique, and the breakfasts have normally been wonderful.|On arrival the place looked the part. Loved the fitted arts and crafts style interior. |Receptionist showed us the details - coffee/tea/hot water, cookies, soft drinks fridge... |We choose breakfast time - only 8.30 and 9.15 available, a bit later than we would Jane normally liked|Room, whilst not the largest, was as expected. Comfortable bed. Smoke, fluffy towels, nice toiletries|At 5pm there was wine and cheese/meat board in reception|Where it all went wrong for us was at breakfast.|First off there is insufficient seating for all that turned up for 8.30 - 3 tables of two plus settee seats. But at 'maximum' there were 8 or 9 couples.|Juice, yoghurt, tea/coffee were there at 8.30.|Breakfast didn't arrive until 8.45.|It was a tray for each individual. On that there was a plate with "smoked salmon on toast" - this had clearly been fridged for a long time, overnight I would guess. This was alongside a hot-ish "omelette" - at least I guess that was what it was supposed to be. Tough, rubbery, unappetising. And a small pot of sliced strawberries and blueberries. And this was all on the tray together enclosed with clingfilm all across the top, trapping the steam inside. Most people disappeared with their trays, presumably back to their rooms.|None of this was in the spirit of any B&B we stay in and was a great disappointment.|Such a disappointment for...
Read moreMy 3- night stay was made incredible because of the location, and due to the other pleasant guests (now friends) staying at the Blackbird Inn & Finch Guest House. ||The staff who served breakfast each morning were slightly helpful, but not unpleasant. Nicole Titus, manager, is inappropriate and unprofessional. As I’m writing this review, I was told by Nicole to write it, after I mentioned to her that I would not want to leave it based on her inability to understand my point of view regarding a fee I was charged for a towels covered with my clean ingredient makeup (I’ve been using Ilia brand for years and it washes out of other towels at other establishments, and my own towels). I was never charged a fee anywhere else, except at this place. Martha, assistant manager, was approachable about the situation. ||On the first night, regarding the room, I noticed that the TV and the fireplace screen was covered with streaks, and the mirror in the bathroom and the mirror on the closet door were covered with streaks. The patio furniture was dusty. Also, I noticed cobweb’s in some areas. I received prompt service from Martha to help me turn on the fireplace. The breakfast and happy hour each day is 3 stars out of 5. And the pillows, bedding, and mattress...
