First off, the decor is super cool! I’ve never been to Thailand, or anywhere in Asia for that matter, but I felt like I could have been there, but with the added perk of no oppressive humidity and heat. There’s a wall mural that’s really fun to check out, it’s super detailed and it just brings a vibe and energy on its own. On the wall are these really cool soda signs and you recognize them immediately as Pepsi, Coca-Cola, and orange crush to name a few, but they’re written in the Thai language. Pardon my ignorance, I don’t know if it has a name or it’s just “Thai” but the bottom line is the decor is really nice. The service is really good, and attentive. We ordered miso soup that was unlike any other miso I’ve ever had. A. There’s a lot of it, in a big bowl. B. It’s absolutely LOADED with tofu, and C. It’s delicious. I also ordered unagi sashimi, and that was both well presented, and delicious! The perfect appetizer! For our entrees, my girlfriend ordered the dragon roll, and I had the spider roll. Those also were beautifully presented, and were absolutely delicious! Coca Cola to drink for the lady, and I had a Thai iced coffee.

… Then the bill came. TOTALLY REASONABLE! We left without breaking the bank, well fed, and happy to return. I look forward to my next visit to the White Crane cafe.

To the staff: Outstanding! Really well done....

The chairs are metal and uncomfortable there are only 3 booths that look relatively comfortable. The vibe is kind of fast foodish with an industrial like decor. Similar to large fast food restaurants. The music was odd. I have driven by the location on Harlem ave and wanted to try the Thai food but I also wanted sushi. What a good idea and this restaurant is located close to my home. I ordered Tom Yum soup it was tasty with plenty of chicken. However there were 5 uncut cherry tomatoes making it difficult to eat the hot tomatoes. I also had the white crain roll and the soft crab roll and ended with sake salmon sushi . It was ok but not great lacks flavor unagi room temp. None of the sushi had a lot of flavor it was mediocre at best. The sushi is priced above its quality level.

I ordered Spicy basil stir fry to go, my wife's favorite. I ordered it spicy. I got extra spicy. Not a problem. The basil stir-fry was packaged with the rice. So, the rice absorbed the sauce leaving it mushy. It was over spiced with, to many green beans. It was difficult to taste the basil. I thought that the Thai food would get me back but I'm not sure I would give it another try. My wife said it wasn't best or the worst basil chicken she has eaten so she would like to try the restaurant. Overall I...

This review is for take out only. Parking was horrendous on Sundays around noon. Then it was only slightly better on Mondays at the same time. I guess people really like going to that Buttermilk next door. Both times I went inside White Crane Retro Thai and Sushi it was never busy. The staff was very pleasant and kind. They always offered me water while I waited for my order. I ordered the shrimp paste rice, avocado curry, and baked taro custard. The verdict was average quality but higher prices after looking at the price range. I’ve been to many Asian/Thai/Sushi places, so this isn’t the best restaurant I’ve ever eaten in Illinois or even in Naperville. If you’re new to Thai or sushi then you’ll love this place. -Shrimp paste rice 3.5 - I would have liked more meat in my entree since other Thai restaurants usually give me generous amounts. The meal was good but just not a lot of pork for $17. -avocado curry 3.5 - this was the same price as the other one just because they added avocado pieces. Curry was well done and slightly spicy. Price should be less. -baked taro custard 5 - easily the best thing I’ve had here. It was light and flavorful. It can be shared between two people.
