Bistro 821 — Restaurant in Naples

I can’t say anything about the food. I had a reservation for 8 people . We coordinated our schedules so we could try out the venue based on their promotional deal. Our group of 4 couples dine out at higher end restaurants every month. If we are unfamiliar with it, we try to check it out when there is a promotion. We all dine at restaurants we enjoy individually also frequently. When we went on line to check our reservation made about a month ago we saw that the promotion , which had no expiration or date at all, had changed. We called to see if it would still apply since the reservation was made in plenty of time. We were told by Bill that the answer was no. There was another promotion that was in no way appealing to us. We explained the situation to Bill and he basically told us too bad. No hint of customer service here. Felt like they did not need or want our business. I am sure the food is good but now I will never know. I understand their prerogative to change things but I think they would honor a previous commitment. I recently dined at Bistro 821 and had an absolutely stellar experience that deserves nothing less than five stars. From start to finish, the evening was perfect.

We started with the crab dip, which was creamy and packed with flavor, perfectly accompanied by crisp, fresh chips. Next, we enjoyed the prawns, which were cooked to perfection, juicy, and seasoned just right.

SERVICE We were in Naples in a whim and didn’t make reservations. Luckily we arrived when they opened and were seated immediately. Our server Lauren was attentive and informative.

FOOD We started with the crab dip, it’s so good you won’t be able to stop eating. If the tortilla chips were slightly less thick this appetizer would have been perfection.

My BF made his own combo with Chilean sea bass (sweet and flavorful), jumbo shrimp (slight spiciness that contrasts nicely with the sweetness of the sea bass), brocolini, mushroom risotto (A+).

I had the Atlantic salmon (perfectly seared and med-rare), miso glazed Brussels sprouts (flavorful and done well, no bitterness), and goat cheese potatoes cakes. My boyfriend couldn’t stop eating the goat cheese potato cakes, he said he wanted that for breakfast with eggs.
