This is a very pretty property in a great location. I didn't get to eat at the restaurant but it looked very nice. But it is not a good option for a solo female traveler because there is no one on site after 10:00 pm and it's dark and confusing to find your room if you get in after 10:00, plus it's motel style so the rooms face onto the street which doesn't feel secure particularly with no one on the premises. You should also know the following before you go: 1. no in room coffee and no place to get coffee on premises before 8:00 am. 2. Only one small bottle of water in the room. 3. if you get there past 10:00, there is no staff on site at all. They leave a map on the door that I found difficult to read and you have to stumble around in the dark trying to find your room--you have to walk down a dark, narrow cobblestone path with your luggage and as a woman traveling alone it made me feel uneasy. 4. No place to charge your phone in the bedroom--there are outlets but they are behind bedside tables and in use. 5. They don't provide you with the wifi password if you check in after 10:00 pm--this would be such an easy thing to do and it just shows they don't really think about the little touches. 6. the curtains don't really block out the light in the am. On a more positive note, the rooms are kind of older and a little dated but very spacious, and they have nice patios which lead to the pool. If you plan to arrive before 10:00 pm and you don't wake up early and want coffee and you don't need more than one bottle of water that night and you don't mind not having wifi or a place to charge devices or having a lot of light come in your room in the morning, it really is a very nice property, it just wasn't a good fit for my...

Read moreMy husband and I went to Naples with high hopes of staying in a very special place.. the hotel ‘Escalante’. Pictures on line show a light, white and airy décor, upon entering our room we were not sure if the décor was trying to be retro or if it was left over garage sale furniture. The room was dark and dreary with a red stripped velour sofa accented with two pea green 1960 style chairs. Our private lanai was like grand central station for the gardeners, the maintenance man and the photographer, so much for our private breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, no coffee before 8:00 am for the early risers.(Per the snoody receptionist). Considering the rooms were over $300 per night and having a chef on staff, you would have thought the breakfast would have been a little substantial..... even a cold buffet were you could make your own selections would be an improvement. The hand held shower was broken spraying water all over my hair, clean clothes and the bathroom floor, later the snoody receptionist comment was " Well it's fixed NOW"! The last surprise was the $69.00 ‘resort fee’ charged on our credit card.. for our breakfast ( which left a lot to be desired),.... for Wi-Fi... for the use of the pool (but it was to cool to use).... for parking (we parked on the street, since it was more convenient to our room). You would think for Over $300.per nt. these things would be included?? The resort fee is just another way of charging you without raising...
