Yesterday my family and I tried to celebrate my father's birthday at Chops. We called to make a reservation and asked to not be seated at a specific booth in the back of the restaurant. My 98 year old grandfather and my brother's newborn baby were with us. From previous experiences we knew it would be a challenge for us to fit and for my grandparents to get in and out of the table. We had called 3 times to make sure they were aware of this request and each time we were promised it was not a problem. However, when we arrived for dinner this was the only table that would be available for us. We explained the situation to the manager Christopher who could not be bothered with our issue. He simply explained that they do not handle the reservations and that the calls go to a call center where they are entered. The restaurant has no control over the reservations and there would be nothing that he could do. I have never experienced such a lack of accountability from a manager for a failure of their restaurant and systems.
This is the 2nd time I have had an issue with a table reservation. The other time was on Christmas Eve. Again, my family and I had called ahead to book our reservation. However, when being seated at the restaurant the hostess brought our party to two separate tables. Chops expected us to split our party into two separate groups and dine separately. Again, management could not be bothered with the situation and could not grasp why this was an issue.
For being in the hospitality business this restaurant and management team could not be less hospitable.
Update Chris, your response has only exacerbated my feelings of disappointment and disrespect. The fact that you still have yet to apologize for almost ruining my father’s birthday just proves the point. You are not even acknowledging that your company made a mistake. You made the conscious effort to literally do the only thing that we explicitly asked you not to do. To me this is the definition of being unhospitable.
When questioned about the situation, we are essentially blown off and told there was nothing you could do. We were told that this was only table in the restaurant that would accommodate the size of our party. If this was the only table, why were we not informed of the problem previously? However, your response here states there are potentially 2 tables for a party of 10. I do not understand how this changed overnight. To me, the whole situation just felt that manger was just trying to pull one over on his customers.
I also do not take kindly to manager Chris blatantly lying to deflect blame to the outsourced call center. While in person Chris specificity said the reservation system does not allow the call center to share notes with the restaurant about reservations. So that night we were told there was no way for the restaurant to be aware of the table request. However, in your response Chris now claims the system allows for notes to be entered by the call center. So I am a little confused on what to believe, since Chris’ two statements contradict each other. One of these statements must be a lie. I can only assume Chris was trying to pass the blame while I was at the restaurant and now trying to save face online.
I would also like to point out that I never raised my voice. I did stress how disappointed I was and that we should have never give Chops a second chance after Christmas. But I realized immediately when I started talking to Chris that nothing would be done to rectify the situation, so we simply left. There are simply too many quality restaurants here that a guest should feel the need to convince a manger to care about their customers.
This was me giving Chops a second chance and I do not think the exchange could have been any worse. You could not pay me to visit Chops again. My family and I will choose to spend our time and money at establishments that value their customers and put forth their effort into providing a quality experience. I can only hope the new ownership does something to educate...
Read moreIf i could give them a negative star i would. Visited these guys on request from naples marina and the concierge lady in the main lobby recommend this establishment because she likes to help out small local businesses. Umm red flag!! Upon entering we were asked if we had reservations and host seemed upset we didnt. There were atleast 10 to 12 open tables. Kinda weird but who knows. We were sat up front near a gold pole touching are table and like i said they 10 to 12 available tables. And let me tell you how we got the pole. Are waiter was a gentleman with dark hair. So the meal started and we were gonna do the 3 for 30 we ordered drinks. Girlfriend glass of wine and stella for myself. Looking at the menu i decided to step away for a 60 dollar tab and lets eat good tonight full bore 200 tab babe...are waiter got mad at that and rudely walks by and tells my girl hey i gotta charge you for that wine. Obviously common sense buddy we just ordered 140 additional in food and 3 for 30 was off the table. We knew we had to pay for it. Well the first round of drinks sat for some time. Wow its getting worse and worse. Finally the food comes and the 10 oz filet was fine and the 18oz came very medium all pink no red whatsoever. Its was burnt and had the taste of a burnt charred bottom of the grill taste. And at this time i would have to say the establishment knew nothing of what was going on. I am not one to complain usually. This is my only post i have ever done. But its a must. So steaks come out we begin eating talking between the 2 of us what a regret we had by coming here. Finishing up i am in a hotel at the marina so i cut up a third of the steak for the dogs and asked our waiter for a togo box and he said he would take care of it. I watched him pile trash and dirty plates in his arms along with our leftovers and then flip a basket of bread on top of the take home also spilling crumbs on the floor. For 100 a head with no tip where did you find this waiter?? He takes everything back to the kitchen and 5 min later the leftovers where brought back. I would have expected that do be done table side. Way more sanitary for guests. Getting back to the hotel look in the box and all the cut up steak was gone. He says he has been doing this for 20 years....unbelievable!!! I have apologized to my girl and my dogs for this place. I have to be honest and say save your money not worth 100 per head no way no how especially the way we were treated by that waiter. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK!!!! And the hotel must stop chops for a recommendation cause it makes the...
Read moreRecently came into this establishment with a group of friends celebrating a good friend’s birthday On April 13th Saturday At the Naples location for a reservation at 8:30 pm ( i would like and genuinely appreciate these details to be taken into consideration because whoever was a manager or in charge that night was extremely rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional a tall slender older man with glasses and short hair and passive aggressive tone) Me and the group all spend over 300+ combined on Food and drinks. we enjoyed our time the food was at best decent and extremely overpriced and the drinks were fine but again overpriced, service from the waiter left nothing to be desired he was very nice and personable, when came time to pay our group payed separately but all left tips to our individual knowledge regardless we all payed for our bills just fine, then came the end of the night when our group had exited the establishment waiting in front of the restaurant for the men in the group to grab the cars the manager previously mentioned earlier in this review felt it was appropriate to approach the group of young 20 year old women and scold us and pretty much shame us for not tipping well enough or as the manager himself said “not taking care of our sever” well enough , he proceeded to bring our age into the discussion and say “ i get your young and all but you pretty much did not take care of our server tonight”,,,,, all i would like to say to that is that this man needs to be put back through basic job training , despite our group not necessarily having to tip considering it is a courtesy from the customer to the workers and the food already being over priced through the roof my group payed for our food fully with zero issues AND the majority if not ALL of the people in the group tipped well. It is extremely unprofessional and made all the girls including the person whos birthday it was uncomfortable and upset, It should not be up to the customers to “ take care of the server” it is a very nice looking establishment and very overpriced , the job itself should be taking care of the servers ,tips are always a bonus. we did not appreciate the passive aggressive scolding and shaming of the tipping situation its extremely weird ,unprofessional and just completely unethical i will not be coming here again and will actually be informing others to be cautious of if they do choose to eat here because it is definitely not somewhere ill be able to feel comfortable...
