Mimoto is the most authentic Japanese restaurant in Naples. Everything from the atmosphere, to the interesting menu, to the food quality and presentation, to the service are up to true Japanese standards. Anyone who has been to Japan knows that they aim for perfection in everything they do! The restaurant is small and intimate, with a beautiful sushi bar framed in light colored wood and minimalist in style. You can watch the sushi chefs at work if you sit at or near the bar area. The menu has some traditional Japanese favorites such as the California roll, but consists mainly of items with a twist. All items with crab are made with real crab, not the fake "krab" used in many restaurants. There's a large selection of both sushi options and hot dishes. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious, but our favorites were the udon noddles topped with crab, the eel on rice dish, and the California roll topped with tuna. The drinks are equally impressive, from the Saketini to the surprisingly green colored matcha IPA. They also have a nice selection of sakes at a variety of price points. Our server was very nice and attentive, and let us taste several different sakes until we found one we all liked. I highly recommend Mimoto to anyone who enjoys high quality Japanese food served in an authentic atmosphere. TIP: If there's no parking in front of the restaurant, try the back where there are a few...
Read moreOne word: overpriced. Talk about a rip off... for vegans this place is a sham. I'm sure their fish options are fine, but for people who don't eat meat (or fish), the options are tasteless and overpriced. $24 for a 6 piece sushi roll with peas and corn? They have 3 vegan rolls and they're basically the same roll with minor modifications, we made the mistake of "trying" all 3. The peas and corn on top of the roll was a bit of a slap-in-the-face adding insult to injury. The "sake" cocktails are a bit of a joke. People think they're actual cocktails but they're overpriced sake shots. Our bill for 4 people was $350, and we left still hungry, and had to go someplace else afterwards. If you don't eat fish, stay away from this place, everything on the "plant-based" section is mediocre...
Read moreWe moved to Naples last year and have missed having awesome sushi, (we are from New York City). We did enjoy Dusk and Namba, but they are not what we are used to in NYC. We dined at Ichi Togarashi last week (amazing!) and our waiter shared they were opening a sushi restaurant. We went tonight and it was outstanding! The quality of the fish is off the charts. We are sashimi lovers…,the tuna and salmon were amazing. We enjoyed salads and various rolls….all amazing. Our server Yoyo was wonderful, as was the saki. I gave 4 stars here as the food came out oddly timed, BUT it came out amazing! Our new go to place, but it is small and I am hoping we don’t get boxed out by crowds. We will enjoy as long as we can...
