My wife and I decided to dine here for her birthday and let me say, a wonderful decision that we made. The server Paulie greeted us swiftly and kindly. He made sure we were comfortable and began to take our drink orders. The rest of the staff was wonderful as well, everyone helping make sure we were always happy and our water glass never empty. My wife got the expresso martini, which was delicious as we both had a sip and I had the old fashioned. Paulie was very knowledgeable about old fashions himself, making sure I was happy with what I wanted, and I was very! For dinner he carefully explained the specials and all that come with it in a very detailed, but short manner not boring us with the hoo’s and ha’s. To not feel rushed we decided on a calamari ($19) which was drizzled with sweet Thai chili and as a fan of calamari, it did not disappoint! When we finally decided on dinner, we chose the 3-course meal they offer for $73 dollars, a soup or salad, filet minot or red grouper, and a dessert of lava cake with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. I chose the soup which was a French onion soup which was fantastic, the soup came out hot, the cheese cheesy, and the flavor fantastic. I then chose the filet minot (med), Paulie making sure that was exactly how I wanted it and when it came out, I was happily surprised to see that it came out exactly how I wanted! The mash potatoes and the sauce they serve with the steak were paired nicely and tastefully, nothing overpowering the other. Finally the lava cake, when brought out looked fantastic making sure that the ice cream and the whip cream were on a separate small bowl on the plate in case you don’t want everything melting on each other. It was absolutely delicious as I have a sweet tooth and would 100% recommend! Even after all that Paulie made sure to let us know that even though we had dessert, for my wife’s birthday she gets a free dessert of her choice. We decided to make it to-go since we were already stuffed from the food we had already enjoyed. The general manager passed by to make sure we were well accommodated and wished my wife a happy birthday! 12/10 would recommend!! Thank you to Paulie and the rest of the staff for making it a wonderful night for both...
Read moreI attended dinner with my family on 5/15/16 - we made a reservation for 6 and were seated very quickly on entering the restaurant.
we had a waiter (kortis?) and his trainee alexis, it was restaurant week and while it was the final day we actually had to ask for the restaurant week menu. When only one person in our party ordered a drink and we ordered off the restaurant week menu our waiter essentially wrote of our entire table.
We placed our order around 715 PM and our entrees did not arrive until around 830-845. Our trainee waiter Alexis (who was excellent) came over and gave us all our food, it was clear that her trainer had stopped caring about our table and was catering to one table only behind us and entirely ignoring our table (the restaurant was certainly not busy at this point).
When our food arrived it was good, i got filet medallions which were cooked well, there was no problem with any of the food though there are certainly restaurants in Naples I would much prefer given the prices they are charging. The only time our waiter re-appeared was to give us our check, upon exiting the restaurant I asked to speak to a manager and was told he was absent and given his number to contact in the morning.
The next day (today) I received a phone call and they were very courteous.
TLDR version: for what you pay seriously not worth it, estimated food/drink cost is probably 40-50$ a head, you could easily go to one of 10 different restaurants within and receive significantly better service. La Moraga down the road also had a restaurant week special and is comparably priced and it was night and day between the services
I would whole...
Read moreThis was not our first visit to Shula's, so we knew what to expect. Most would probably recommend wearing business casual attire here, but I wore my weekday uniform made up of shorts, a polo shirt and Oofos and no one looked at me sideways. As much as I enjoy the restaurants in this area of Naples at Mercato and Waterside close by, sometimes I like to get away from the crowds, especially for lunch during the work week. It tends to be quieter here and feels more cozy and relaxing, despite having an upscale, classic feel - lots of hardwood everywhere and nice oversized chairs. The service is always consistently excellent - prompt, personable and passionate about what they do. While not a "5 star" restaurant in a technical sense, it feels close - or at least like they're trying, complete with crumbing down the table.
The food is always great. I've had the burger in the past, so I got the Reuben this time. Out of the two, I'd recommend the burger - the Reuben was good, but not the best I've had in the area - my wife got the burger and I have to admit that I coveted it. It is a blend of black Angus, short rib & brisket, so it has a unique flavor and consistency. My daughter ordered the lobster bisque and salmon - she said the salmon was excellent.
Update: Shula's remains excellent on repeat visits. Most recently, I tried the steak sandwich and it was absolutely delicious. The service remains excellent and accommodating.
Tried The Blackened Tenderloin Tips as a starter and they were excellent. Food and service remain top-notch.
Service remains excellent on recent visits, the food is...
