Had already been dissapointed with pizza before but went there anyway because 1st choice near-by eatery was jam packed on a Friday eve at 5:30PM and couldn't get a seat. We were hot and tired because we walked there from about 1.5 miles from home. When we got pizza the 1st time there it was a pick up order. This particular Friday we dined in. We were the only patrons there. We ordered Italian mix sub and Italian sausage sub. The gal taking our order had to ask the bearded, sloppy dressed man behind the counter if the sausage was sweet or spicy. ( hmmm) We waited for about 15 minutes for our subs. Upon delivery the bread was so soggy on the ends it was beginning to get slimmy. While the meat on the Italian sub was good the sausage was totally overcooked and tough. Towards finishing, or trying to, I had to remove the innerds and eat it separetly because the roll was nothing but a slimmy mess. We ordered Corolla beer to which they had no lime to go with. I guess the man behind the counter was worn out from our order so he plopped down on a seat in between the counter and the back of the establishment. Even though we were the only ones eating there a few people came in to pick up orders . The same man, I presume the owner, never even bothered to get up from the chair to greet or serve customers. NEVER AGAIN! Next time I am hungry and place of choice is too busy to accomadate me, I will skip eating altogether. Simply...it is not worth it, money or...
Read moreThis place is AMAZING!!! Didn't want to leave the Gulf Coast Inn so decided to try this place, it was so good we went there 2 times for dinner, and a 3rd time for a take-out desert for my husbands birthday. (in the span of three days). Tami was extremely friendly and made us feel welcome, very knowledgable about the menu and everything she recommended was fantastic! We are kind of "picky" about our pizza and the one we had was most definitely at the top of our list. The crust was perfect and the toppings were very fresh, plenty of cheese and it came out hot! Not one complaint about this place! Tami was kind enough to include a birthday candle for the desert I ordered to-go, it might seem like a "small thing" but was a very unexpected nice gesture on her part as I didn't think to bring any. ALL of the deserts we had were delicious, but I think my favorite was the SeaSalted Carmel Cheesecake (in photo). They also have a very nice wine/beer/cocktail selection including a very good Limoncello! I also wanted to mention that they have trivia on Thursday nights that is a lot of fun! This place is great! Thank you Tami and Vesuvio's for the great food and drink, hospitality and making it a great weekend! Do not change a thing and we will...
Read moreDon't let the hole-in-the-wall look fool you. It's legit Brooklyn style pizza.
My wife lived in Kew Gardens for several years so we've had lots of opportunity to enjoy Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn style pizzas.
This place is a solid 9 out of 10, and the best you'll probably find in Naples.
I had the supreme (Vesuvio Special). Cheese was freshly grated. Tomato sauce was a sweeter San Marzano style reminiscent of what I remembered in NY, but also with a pleasant herbaceous and mildly zesty flavor. Very nice. Dough was soft and well-seasoned. I don't usually eat the crust but I did in this case with a side of dipping sauce. Very generous topping portions.
Dough can get a little soggy at the bottom as the pizza is sitting out especially when it's loaded. This is common in NY and Napoleon style pizzas. Just means it's not overcooked, which is always preferred IMO as opposed to the crust getting rubbery due to overcooking. Crust actually stays soft, which is nice.
Service is also excellent (Thanks Tami!), and you can tell a lot of the locals nest...
