We tried this new spot out for a friend’s birthday, and the ambience is wonderful! The food was amazing. We ordered a few different glasses and a few appetizers off the menu. Their OG sourdough with butter hits the spot! The only thing that rubbed us the wrong way was an interaction we had with an employee. We brought the birthday girl one prepackaged slice of cake from Baked on 8th. It was sitting on the table unopened. The employee came up and sweetly asked if we were celebrating a birthday. We replied with yes! She wished her happy birthday and said “Actually though, we don’t allow outside food here.” We thought she was going to say the birthday girl got a $1 off a glass or something along those lines. It rubbed us all the wrong way - not for the policy of no outside food (because we agree with that policy) but for approaching us about it when it was unopened, our friend wasn’t eating the cake, and it was just a slice for her! It’s not as if we had brought a whole cake to share amongst us. Enforce policy if it’s being broken (e.g. a group is eating a charcuterie board they’ve brought from home), but I found it out of touch to get onto the birthday girl for having a slice of packaged cake...
Read moreThere's something rare and magical about Butterlamp! It isn't just the perfectly crisp-edged, deeply flavorful mushroom toast or the briny, citrus-kissed warmth of the olives (though those alone would be worth the visit). It's the way this place makes you feel--like you've stepped into something personal, something earnest, something made with love and delightfully shared.
The couple behind Butterlamp aren't just serving food; they're sharing something they're excited about--what they've learned, created, and are now offering up with a warmth typically reserved for dear friends and houseguests. Their joy in what they do is tangible, and it's impossible not to feel it in every bite, every sip, every interaction.
We first visited during the hush of a snowed-in January weekend, slipping inside from the cold with our favorite neighbors. It felt like stepping into a glowing refuge--cozy, unhurried. It was a rest to be grounded and welcomed, nourished and warmed through and through!
If you love places where food is more than just food--where it's a story, a craft, and has real heart at the center--you'll just love Butterlamp. I can't wait to...
Read moreThis is exactly what Nashville needs! A classy yet cozy neighborhood wine bar with incredible food, great drinks, and a very lovely staff. The atmosphere inside is chic and beautiful, and there's also an adorable outside seating area. Inside is fun and lively, but it's not overwhelming or too loud. It's a great place to come enjoy drinks and share plates with friends, but also would be great to come alone and enjoy a glass of wine with a book.
The chef is amazing--every item on the menu is incredible (special shout out to the sourdough, deviled eggs, and chocolate chip cookies). The staff was able to help me choose delicious glasses of wine based on my preferences. I can't wait to go back and try more new things!
This will definitely be my...
