Calypso Cafe - West End / Charlotte — Restaurant in Nashville-Davidson

I wish I could give more than 5 stars! We were introduced to Calypso catering in Feb 2019 when they catered at one of our friend's welcome dinners as part of a wedding weekend. The food was great! We opted to have Calypso cater for our wedding welcome dinner on 10.13.23. Michael was amazing to work with. He responded quickly and clearly to emails and would provide regularly updated quotes, as requested. He arrived right on time and set up all the food. Michael also made sure they brought signs to indicate names of food with dietary labels (gluten-free, vegetarian). We had MANY compliments on the food (pulled chicken, house salad, beans, rice, calypso bars). The food is delicious and very reasonably priced for catering. I don't think you'll find a better catering option...

This restaurant had a full menu of things to eat. I ordered the 1/4 chicken with black beans, coconut sweet potatoes with fruit tea and a side of rice. The black beans tasted as fresh as canned black beans can be but were spiced very sparingly and cold. They struggled to achieve blandness.The sweet potatoes were pretty good and had a banana type consistency sprinkled with coconut shavings. The chicken was cooked to the right temperature, but the jerk sauce was not as spicy or hot as promised. Called 2 orders in today for my co-worker and myself. Her order was correct but mine wasn't. Called to let someone know that my order had bar-be-que sauce instead of Curry and the JERK who answered the phone asked me "SO What you want US to do about it?" in a rather rude tone. Last time I will have Calypso. It turns out that I am allergic to something in the BBQ sauce. It was my co-workers First now LAST trip there too and she said her food was Good!!!
