New to town up until today, we hadn't found our go-to Mexican spot yet. We chose this based on the excellent reviews, but admittedly I didn't realize it was in a hotel until we got there. I was a little hesitant as hotel restaurants are very hit-or-miss. Deciding I was done driving and looking, we gave it a go because the kiddos were hungry. Best decision for sure!
We were promptly greeted and seated.
Salsa was delicious and you could taste the cilantro but not overwhelming cilantro as in that's all you taste kinda way.
Cheese dip was one of the best we've had when it comes to flavor.
They have the classic chicken/cheese/rice dish that most call the "Happy Plate". It's our go to for my younger kids.
My oldest got a steak quesadilla and had no complaints.
I ordered my go-to of steak fajitas. Classic but one I've never been able to master at home so always my favorite. Sadly I was disappointed in that aspect as my steak had zero flavor which left me bummed. Based off the flavor of everything else, I'm hoping it was a fluke.
My oldest and I ordered a single tamale to share as those are really hit or miss too. Some places they're good, some places they're a flop. Rarely do you get the authentic TAMALE experience without being in an Abuelas kitchen. But yall, that one tamale was NOT enough. We were literally jokingly fighting over who was eating more and who was getting the last bite. Hands down chefs kiss, top tier! At 5$ a pop, I was a bit nervous but it was a decent size and we ended up ordering 6 more to go simply because they were so dang good! Most tamales you get are on the smaller side. I'd say these were double that in diameter. These will be my new go-to whenever we go there from now on. 🤌🤌 Delicious all the way around.
The location isn't very big so I'd be hesitant if you're coming in 10+ deep as that's going to make things pretty crowded and a bit clustered as far as ease of service goes. They could likely pull it off but I'd call ahead and make sure first that way you wouldn't have to wait. There seemed to be only 2 tables that could comfortably fit 5-7 people without moving tables around. Me and my 5 sat at a smaller table. The hostess tried to pull another table up but I told her we were fine. I'll definitely either wait or combine the tables next time we go back as we did end up a bit crowded once we all got our food.
The prices were also very reasonable. Everything was priced per usual for other places I've been to for a reasonable amount of food. Even with the 6 to-go tamales, I paid less than I usually do so zero complaints there.
Over all, well worth it. We will definitely be back. We've found our go to place here in the city and we all couldn't have been happier with our...
Read moreThe food here is pretty good. I've only eaten here once before, and this may be my last time. The service leaves a little too be desired. The employee I spoke with seemed a little cold. I placed a to go order for lunch and accidentally clicked order ASAP instead of the time. The time projected that the order would be placed between 1:22-1:32. I called the restaurant and the guy who answered just seemed bothered by the whole situation. I explained that I accidentally placed the order for immediately instead of selecting a time. He cut me off and said it was already made. I said, oh, the time reflected that it would take longer than that, and I don't have lunch until 2. He insisted that the time did not say that. He also asked me why I placed the order for ASAP if I did not have lunch until two. A question he would have had the answer to had he not cut me off. I explained that it was an accident. He stated that it was already made and there was nothing he could do about it. They did not offer to remake the order so that I could have it fresh when I arrived, nor did he tell me that they could not remake the order. I understand if it is against policy, however, I feel some sort of empathy could have been employed in his explanation. Like, "I'm sorry, but it's not our policy to remake food. Just please try to be a little more mindful while placing your order next time." Anything less rude than this encounter would have been an...
Read moreAs Titans fans, my wife and I have season tickets, and go to Nashville for home games. Our last game, we looked for some Mexican food close by that had carryout. With La Parrilla less than a mile away, we decided to try it. I'm glad we did. My wife is addicted to Arroz con Pollo (ACP to hard-core fans) and was very pleased with her dish. The chicken was correctly done, not chewy, The cheese was hot, smooth and creamy. While I wasn't interested in a full meal, being a carnivore, I just needed some meat, so I ordered a dozen wings. Yes, I know, why get wings from a Mexican place, but my taste buds were screaming "try it." I did, and was pleasantly pleased. They have their own special wing sauce with a Tex-Mex flair, nicely spiced and just a nice touch of heat. While I wouldn't have minded a bit more heat, they were still delicious. Crispy done yet tender, I was impressed. My biggest gripe was not having quite enough wing sauce. Otherwise, we were very happy with our selection. Since I didn't eat in, I really can't say much about table service, but just driving less than a mile, I only waited less than 5 minutes for my order, and was able to clear the tab during that time. Very efficient, polite, and if they have the same service for sit-down meals it should be a pleasing meal. They have a well stocked bar, nice decor, and pleasant atmosphere. We look forward to visiting again later summer when we return for the...
