Update: I just wanted to update this review I posted 9 months ago. My girlfriend and I just finishing eating here and everything I had stated that was an issue has been fixed. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Our drinks were refilled without ever reaching the bottom and the owner passed by our table and checking on us twice to make sure everything was tasty and how it should be. You can really tell that Akshay (the owner) truly cares about the well being of his guests and how he can improve his restaurant. After I left this review 9 months ago, he put in a tremendous amount of effort into reaching me and trying to make things right. Though I didn’t respond (I was meaning to but would forget on multiple occasions. Sorry Akshay if you’re reading this.), I have much respect for him for going above and beyond to satisfy his guests. This place is the best Indian food in Nashville. We had the chicken Kati Roll which was wonderful and very tasty. Then moved our favorite, Chicken Korma. I kid you not, my mouth was watering before I took a bite. Boy, did it not disappoint. If you’re looking for a great Indian spot, this is it. I will be recommending everyone to come here. Thank you guys.
Old Review (Honestly disregard this): Sindoore I’ve always enjoyed when going there. The food always has been excellent and it was the first place I tried Indian food. I went with my girlfriend and brother on September 10th. The restaurant wasn’t packed by any means as we arrived around 8pm. We placed our drink orders and food at the same time since they were about 2 hours till close. The server was sweet to start. We received our chips and chutney. We orders drinks on top of our water. We had finished our drinks rather quickly as we all were thirsty. We couldn’t help but notice that our server has gone past our table multiple times without even noticing that our drinks were empty. I understand that she may have been busy as I was a server myself but our cups were lined up at the end of the table for a minimum of 10 minutes. I’m not one to be picky when it comes to service but this was probably the worse service I’ve gotten here. The restaurant isn’t big by any means and when we notice our server walking by table multiple times. It tends to get frustrating especially as I ordered a high spice level dish. We had to flag down the nice man cleaning tables from across the room. That’s when we were able to actually get our drinks and water refilled. It wasn’t until we were about to leave was she actual was attentive to our table. She walked by our table once more then stopped turned around asked if we’re good then we were in the middle of asking for to go trays when she begins to walk away once again. We had to raise our voices so she could actually understand what we were trying to get. We did not tip her. We always tip 20% even when sometimes our server may not deserve it. We understand the hardships of being a server but when you have only given us our drinks to start. Didn’t serve us food, didn’t refill our drinks, and didn’t take 30 seconds to check up on us to see if the food was good, but was so attentive when we started to show signs of leaving. That isn’t tip worthy service. Despite the food always being great, this left a bad taste in my mouth about a place that I’ve always...
Read morePreface: I’ve recommended Sindoore to many friends (even one earlier this very day) because while the service has been only mostly okay, the food IS good and the location is convenient to us - plus I try hard to support local businesses over chains.
However, our experience tonight was just horrible. The food was still good, of course, but we arrived around 1.5 hours before closing at approximately 8:30pm. We ordered 2 entrees, 2 alcoholic drinks (1 per person), and some naan (and we planned to also order dessert and maybe another drink each). It all arrived in a fair amount of time, at 9pm. No issue there. Everything was tasty as always.
However, they started vacuuming nearby before we’d even finished our meals. By around 9:15 they were loudly cleaning more things and kept looking at us pointedly as we ate, and multiple staff members came over to “check” on us, culminating with them noisily loading chairs onto tables near us 20 minutes before closing as I finished my drink.
We had mentioned wanting to order dessert to a female employee who came to our table and had asked us, but she never brought the menu, and then an older male employee brought the check. We brought up dessert again, so he brought us the dessert menu (as requested for the second time). Then he stood there and just stared at us expectantly without giving us a moment to read it, which felt really awkward and like he was continuing to rush us (but, again, there was quite some time before closing).
The loud noises, pointed stares (even from a man who I believe is the owner), and dust rising from the vacuum changed our mind, though.
They close at 10pm. We’d never stay after that as we’ve had to deal with the general public a lot and want to be courteous and considerate customers. We’re quiet and always try to tidy up after ourselves before leaving and treat everyone with respect (as they deserve it). That’s the bare minimum of decency.
Overall, a wildly trashy and disappointing experience at Sindoore. I’ll never again recommend this spot to anyone, and I’m embarrassed I ever did.
Our bill was around $72, and we still left just over a 20% tip. Almost $100 for the authentic Sindoore vacuum-cleaner dining experience, lol.
Sindoore, if you don’t want to lose customers and do want to wring more money out of the ones who WERE happily supporting your establishment, try being as respectful to them as...
Read moreI made a horribly wonderful mistake by eating at Sindore, let me explain. I am not from Nashville and my home city does not have an Indian restaurant. The only Indian food I've had before came from the freezer section at Kroger, and I liked it. After landing at BNA, I decided to try fresh Indian cuisine before driving home. Because of this decision, I can no longer eat the frozen Indian meals I had grown accustomed to.
First things first. My expectations for the atmosphere of this place were low because it shared a strip mall with a vape shop a Jimmy John's. As soon as I entered the restaurant wearing a polo, jeans, & ball cap, I felt very underdressed. It is a small, but very classy establishment. There were many people in suits and nice dresses, but there were a few in shorts and t-shirts. Don't get the wrong idea, I didn't feel too out of place. Making me feel more at ease was the staff who mostly wore jeans with button-up shirts and were very pleasant and helpful.
Being my first time in an Indian restaurant my waitress was patient while I asked questions and decided what to have. I wanted to compare one the dishes I liked from the frozen dinners, so I went with my server's recommendations and tried the Tikka Masala with chicken, Garlic Naan, and Mango Lassi.
While I waited for my food, I was served lentil chips that came with two dipping sauces. I snacked on them and took in the uniquely beautiful aesthetic of the dining room. The portion size of the food was more than I could eat, even though I didn't want to stop eating. The flavor of the Tikka Masala covered my palette and I could taste what I had been missing in those frozen meals. My taste buds have awakened to what true Indian cuisine tastes like and I want to try more. Unfortunately, this restaurant is over 2 hours away from my home.
Because the food tasted so good, I don't think I can eat the so called Indian food that I have in my freezer with the same satisfaction I had prior to eating such a tasty example of...
