The food and service were really good. My mom and husband said their potato salad was the best they had ever eaten. The serving sizes were big; we took home enough to have for supper too!
Mom had the pulled pork, it was tender, moist and tasty as I got to try it. The burgers are good sized and flavorful, patted out fresh by hand, not premade, frozen and out of a box.
I had the salisbury steak, with gravy, onions and peppers; it was homemade as well and delicious.
This restaurant has been here quite a while; so it's a little dated, but clean. My mom and dad used to eat here and it was one of my dad's favorite places to go. I didn't realize they were still here, so mom wanted to go, for old times sake.
We will be back, even though it's not really in our area of town. They are open on Mondays, serve breakfast all day long, all week long and serve plate lunches on Saturday's too...that is uncommon with alot of diners these days, so it's nice to have a fall back and change from the usual.
Getting there when coming from the north end of Gallatin Rd can be tricky with the traffic and gps won't warn you of that...however if you turn left at the red light at Old, Old Hickory Blvd, then turn right on 3rd St then you can turn Right on Maple street and it will be up in the shopping area on your left.
Or, you can go further down Gallatin Rd and do a U-turn and come back to Maple Street and turn right into the parking lot. The traffic on Gallatin Rd is bad there as it approaches the main intersection and the Kroger is just across the street!
We met Laura and Tracy there; they remembered my dad! They are very nice and will take excellent care of you!
Good eating! Sorry I didn't get pics this time...we were so hungry, plus doing...
Read morethis is the best, most unpretentious place that i've been in Nashville. Sure it looks like you've stepped back a few decades - but so what - a lot of places force that type of atmosphere and aesthetic with decor aimed at 19seventy-whatever. This place doesn't have to. The prices are legitimately rooted in like, Bill Clinton's 2nd term. Go back to a pre-culture war America! You won't care of Slick Willie's indiscretions when saving money like this! Use those savings to invest in AOL. Trust me! The sausage they have here is so good, I actually inquired about buying it wholesale - simply because i was too embarassed to order a 3rd side of it.
People...they have a plate of fries with cheese melted on it topped with Gyro meat. Its like $7. Scare away your daft vegan friends and serve em' to a teenage boy and he'll instantly become a man! Service is good. Its always some 35-60 year old woman who is overworked, tough as nails, direct, yet polite. Unlike 70% of the places in this city, you'll actually be greeted in a timely manner...kind of like they GET that timely greet + customer = money. Its astounding how many "respected" Nashville eateries don't get...
Read moreI have eaten here off and on fo 35 years. Today, wife & I went to get breakfast to begin an enjoyable day. Turned out to be a DISASTER! WE ordered and waited for 30 minutes. Inquired of the server and she told us it was coming out. WAITED MORE. I asked again and she said "we got a bunch of door dash and uber eats orders." A lady came in AFTER US AND ORDERED THREE MEALS. We waited as more TOGO orders went out. Our server said AGAIN, "your order is coming out." The lady who came in after us w to go order GOT HER THREE MEALS! I asked server, "why did she come after us and get served ahead of us?" She replied, "I don't know." I said, " I'M GETTING READY TO DOOR DASH!" When another Togo order came out, my wife and I did a DOOR DASH! MORAL OF THE STORY... THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT IN PERSON CUSTOMERS!!! If you want food order Uber eats or DOOR dash because they don't give a rat's about community members who have been customers for years. I'll wait to hear from OWNER, then we'll talk...
