Out of the ordinary terrible treatment of guests. The hostess and waitress appeared very scared of the manager when I arrived in the place with a wine slushie from the local winery. I had just walked from there and into restaurant for dinner and had a bit left to finish. The hostess immediately jumped on me and said.... You may not have that inside here.... She didn't ask if it was alcohol. I responded could I just place my order quickly and then finish the drink outside? Since we only had so much time to eat and then drive back to indy for a deadline. She said we'll the manager may get mad and took me to the table. Then the waitress came out and immediately said the same thing about my slushie.... I asked can I please place my order and I will take it outside to finish? I was about to order and the manager came out quickly in an aggressive manner and said you need to take that outside now..... My adult son had just ordered so I asked him if he could take it outside bc she was about to grab it from my hand and throw it away she was so nasty in her attitude. Then she kept chastising me and said it was a rule of the liquor license to not have any drink from somewhere else. She was raising her voice so loudly everyone could hear her berrating me... Even tho the drink was no longer inside. I asked her if she could possibly lower her voice bc it was like she was trying to also humiliate me. She then flipped out and said well you better just leave and kicked me out bc I asked her for humane treatment. I left and my son and I went to hob nob (which this place basically does knock offs of several menu items of hob nob) and they welcomed us kindly, didn't mention that I had a cup w a small amount of slushie left, and got us a table right away even tho they were very crowded. Our food was amazing and we were able to pay and get home on time despite the maltreatment at this place. I will never go there again and feel this place has some kind of racism issues since we were Latinos and everyone else Caucasian there. Either way the situation could have been handled a million ways in a healthy way.... But it was obvious why all the staff was terrified of the manager. She acted as an awful and ugly manner. I see why hob nob is the place to go.... Not here! Run far away.... Esp if you aren't white.
I see the reply, and again I will say I have never been treated this way in any other establishment. Definitely not at Hob Nob, after we left your place when I still hadn't had the chance to finish the slushie and no one mistreated us. It is all about how you treat other humans, how you speak to them, and the attitude in which you approach other people. All of that was unacceptable and unnecessary. My son took the drink out of the restaurant and the lady proceeded to yell and demean and kick me out, just b/c i asked her to lower her voice b/c she was...
Read moreWe have lived in Brown County for 6 years. But have ate at this restaurant many times before and since moving here. We have enjoyed family and friends gathering there for a great meal. But today's experience before we even entered the restaurant was absolutely appalling. My husband is a near fatal stroke survivor. He has faught his way back for the last 8 months. And still has a long road of recovery. Today we sat out to enjoy beautiful downtown Nashville and the Spring Blossom Parade. Our excitement to watch our grandson march with the high school band one last time before graduation was almost ruined by an employee of The Ordinary. My husband had succeeded in walking on his walker from the corner by The Toy Chest to the benches in front of The Ordinary. Our grandchildren had just saw us and were hanging out with us before the parade started. I could not manage to carry a lawn chair and assist my husband while walking on his walker. At 11:00 a.m. a very rude lady came out and told us that we had to move because she couldn't have us blocking the door because it was a fire hazard! I said we plan to move out to the curb when the parade starts. She repeated her line telling us that we couldn't stay there and we needed to move right now! What Satan meant for evil, God provided a better blessing. Our son-in-law who is a Pastor in the community walked down to a gentleman sitting by himself on a bench right by the curb with a much better view. He calmly asked the gentleman if his father-in-law could sit on part of the bench. The gentleman very politely said sure. So we all moved down and enjoyed our view of the parade. I pray for the employees of The Ordinary that they couldn't be kind to a handicap person. Especially knowing that we have sat on those benches with numerous people standing around as we waited for our name to be called when a table was ready for our party. During those times no one said that the 20 people waiting for a table were posing a fire hazard. I am still debating if I will ever return to this...
Read moreThis is a copy and paste from my cousin and her experience at the restaurant with her husband and son. It’s very concerning that places like this still exist.
John and I visited little Nashville today. We went to the Out of the Ordinary Restaurant and Hickory Sports Bar. Elijah was super excited to go. We asked to be seated next to the restroom as I’m 8 months pregnant and had to use it often. We were sat and waited for some one to come get our drink order. 20 minutes later and nothing. Two waiters came by nothing the host that sat us wouldn’t even acknowledge us. It was clear that no one wanted to serve us. My husband even tried to flag down a waiter. It would have been clear to any waiter that we were getting impatient and hadn’t had our order taken. Two other parties came in way into the 20 minutes they were sat got their drink orders and even food orders taken. So instead of begging some one to come take my order we left. Now I can’t confirm it’s race related but it damn sure did feel like it but I was the bigger person. On the way out the host said he hoped we enjoyed our evening or something along the lines. John was gonna blow up on him and I said it’s not even worth it they don’t want our money let’s go!!! Will not ever go back!!! Worst part was having to explain to your child who really wanted to eat there that we had to leave hungry and find some where else. I’m glad we left though because we went to a nice little mom and pop shop Hobnob Corner Restaurant where the food was amazing the waiter was super loving and amazing and our money was welcomed!!! I’m glad our night was saved by an amazing older gentleman who truly understood what Quality...
