First off, been there twice, asked for a window seat both times, hostess said No, the waitress in that area has no open seats... wasnt told wait & you can get what you want, paying almost a hundred each time, shouldnt the customer get what they want? So it starts the experience off bad. & having a Very rude waitress, Julie. She raised her voice at my husband, over him repeating what he wanted , she said YEAH, BESIDES NAPKINS IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE? I said do not raise your voice. She in turn, voice still raised berated me, telling me she didnt raise her voice, & tried explaining she heard that he needed napkins, was there anything else & is there a problem? Do you want a different server? I just stared at her in disbelief. Obviously our chemistry didn't mix. Then after my silence she was super creepy polite to my husband & daughter. I cant give you a review on my dinner, beef manhattan, I was to upset to eat it. But our appetizers was not good, well 1 out 3 was good...We got breaded mushrooms absolutely delicious. Jalapeno dip, inedible, bread was so hard it hurt my teeth, didnt even get to try the dip. Fried green tomatoes, absolutely delicious, til I found not one but two hairs under my tomato, after I took three bites. So not having a good second experience here. I told our server she rolls her eyes & takes the tomato plate from me.(this all before her raising her voice, because I never spoke to her or anyone afterwards) My husband got the fish & chips, cause first time we were here the ppl next to us got them they were 2 huge peices, this time 2 little biddies like a fish sandwich would have been bigger. What some ppl do not understand, the hostess & servers make the experience, even if the food is just okay... If you have a terrible hostess & server your experience is horrible no matter how good the food is. First experience hostess was unhelpful & rude, waitress Sabrina was phenomenal, food memorable because we had an excellent server. Second experience hostess was unhelpful &rude, waitress Julie was ok at first, not very attentive & things went south quick, so food wasnt as good as first experience. Best part I was charged over $13 more on my check second time. Guess someome thought they deserved a bigger tip. **Today my card was...
Read moreThis place was terrible from the moment we walked in. There were only two of us, but they were busy & we knew there’d be a wait when we went in. The hostess told us 25 minutes, no big deal. So we waited, after 45 minutes & several other tables getting sat, I went up to ask how much longer. The hostess told me that there was one other 4-top ahead of us, and then it was us next. Cool, so we wait. They proceed to sit SIX other parties, I go up and ask the other hostess, and she gives me the same answer, there’s only one other 4 top in front of us. I’m frustrated, but we wait. They then sit another FOUR parties. At this point, I realize I’ve been lied to, so I go up there to host stand where both the hostesses are now standing, & ask again. She gives me the same answer. I told her that she told me that before, & it was clearly not true, so I just want to get an accurate estimate of how long I’d be waiting. The smaller hostess couldn’t say anything besides “yeah, i don’t know”, multiple times in a row. At this point, the dark-haired, heavier-set hostess shoulder-checked me as she went to sit yet another table. I wasn’t going to wait around to speak to a manager, being as angry as I was after she was quite literally physically violent with me. As she shoulder-checked me, I was hit with a god-awful scent of body odor, which I had smelled several times as she walked past me before. I also had witnessed her be extremely rude to other guests, slam down the iPad multiple times in anger, throw the notebook across the host stand, & cuss within earshot of children. She clearly has some extreme anger issues, as well as severe hygiene issues, & should be let go immediately. I’ve been in the restaurant industry for a long time, & that girl is a liability to say the least. You cannot have employees assaulting guests & being verbally abusive. I’ll be calling the restaurant on Monday to discuss this with management, but for fellow patrons: save yourself the time & frustration, & pick one of the many other food options in Nashville to dine with, at least until Nashville House gets their front of house staff...
Read moreI used to come to the Nashville house frequently while I still lived in Indiana, but since I moved out of state, I rarely get an experience like I do here. Even 14 hours away I talk this place up to my friends and coworkers! Every time I come back to my home state, I make it a point to stop in here.
I went in yesterday, and it felt just like it always had. As a history nerd, the atmosphere feels homey and adds that Indiana prairie feel to it. From the cozy fireplaces to the wooden floors and walls, it always puts me in a mood for a delicious meal that feels like grandmother's cooking.
The staff here ARE INCREDIBLE. I had Eli as a waiter, and he was so cool. He got my table everything we needed as fast as he could, and was incredibly polite and chill. Since it was a rainy and slow day, we had some extra time to just talk with him and joke over how welcoming Indiana can be compared to other states.
After we ate, I made my way to their gift section. Of course I needed to bring some apple butter back to my coworkers in Louisiana! Yes, it's so worth the hype my coworkers beg me to bring some back any time I come back to the Nashville House.
From there, I was checked out by Miss Jane and Clay. They were so helpful!! They made sure to wrap everything extra careful for me and my long drive home. They also helped me pick out a few extra gifts for some special people in my life. And again, I was lucky enough to chat with the two of them while they put my order together. They were both the sweetest and kindest people!
I highly recommend The Nashville House if you're looking for the hospitality Indiana has to offer. I'll forever be a...
