My wife and I each ordered sundaes. This is a review of mine (although she was disappointed with hers).
I ordered the chocolate explosion sundae.
First the good...
It looked like it did in the picture It was a generous portion
Now the not-so-great...
The chopped up brownies that were part of the sundae tasted awful - not sure what was wrong with them, but didn't taste like any brownie bits I've ever had. Threw the taste of the whole thing off. It seemed as though they used an artificial whipped topping instead of REAL dairy whipped cream - cool whip in a can should not go on a $6 small sundae. They may have advertised Hershey's chocolate syrup as a topping and I missed it, but I definitely expected thick hot fudge - the two are not the same.
Beyond the mediocre sundae, I need to comment on the cleanliness of this place.
The front door was filthy - it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a couple weeks - it almost turned us off immediately. The floor that we could see as customers was filthy as well - this always concerns me about what the parts I can't see looked like.
Finally:
The guy that took our order was eating ice cream AS we approached the counter. May not seem like a big deal - and it may not have been - but with everything else, it made it seem like a very sloppily run business.
I REALLY don't like giving this kind of review, because Chocolate Moose Bloomington was a big part of my childhood, and I...
Read moreI rarely do reviews but this ice cream place was so good, I felt it necessary. Cheesecake ice cream. I ordered a single scoop in a waffle cone and they informed me that the hand made ice cream cones with two scoops (Same price, I was happy.) I'm 49 years old and I've had my share of different flavor ice creams and ice cream places. This was the absolute best ice cream I've ever had in my entire life. It was so good, I went back and got more. If you are in Brown county Indiana, make sure you stop by this place and get an ice cream. And if you like cheesecake, you can't miss this ice cream.
One more thing, my daughter went up to get a spoon from the gentleman that have waited on us and he said his hands touch money so he is not allowed to touch anything over on this section of the counter. He then went and got somebody so they could get me a spoon and I didn't have to worry about any germs. he says they always wash their hands but still because he handles money they don't want to take any chances. This young man was barely twenty. I was so impressed, and who wants to have their silverware handled by hands that are touching everyone's money. And if you don't like germs like I don't, you actually understand how...
Read moreAs first time Brown County visitors we thought this looked like a cute spot to stop. I will give it, it's clean and comfortable. We tried it two nights in a row and both were a disappointment. The first night we went they forgot my husbands ice cream. We were all done eating ours before he was even served. Then the ice cream was subpar. We returned the second night mainly because the other ice cream spots on the strip close kind of early. We waited in line for a while and literally with ONE person left in front of us they slapped a sign on the register that said cash only. We only had 10 cash (we typically do not carry cash) so my husband and I said screw it we will just get the kids ice cream and not us...my husband didn't realize (because some prices are not posted) and we were short 1.16. My husband told the lady he was going to run to the atm and be back. She looked like a deer in headlights. Instead of deleting the transaction she literally held the entire line up and waited for him to return from the atm. Then we had to wait in line AGAIN to get us food too. It's okay ice cream at best and I probably wouldn't return if...
