Brookwood Farms — Restaurant in Nevada

Wow, never would have known Brookwood Farms did real food counters or restaurants until I stumbled on this on at the airport! When I grew up in NC, Brookwood Farms was a go to brand for pulled pork barbeque IF you absolutely had to get some at a grocery store. That means it was pretty good for a store brand.

Anyway, typical airport place here with high prices for a trapped audience. But the portions are large and drinks are self-serve. Their pulled pork sandwich, Carolina style with slaw on top, is huge and messy! Not in a bad way, but juicy and delicious. Even though there is obviously no smoker in sight (key sign of a bad BBQ joint) the meats have been thoroughly smoked somewhere and even at the end of the day seem fresh enough. For the Carolina BBQ, they top the pork marinated in a plain vinegar sauce with another sauce made with ketchup. So you get two Carolina styles mixed into one, but it works. Stopped by at the airport on our way to the plane. Saturday morning 7:15 am and the young lady working out front was about as rude as she could’ve been. So much so she ran off a Southwest employee who just wanted a better alternative than fast food. She was snotty to 3 different people in 5 min time. The sausage or bacon options for sandwiches weren’t ready. Three of us patiently waited. She wound up aggressively slamming them into the rack when she was done putting them together. All were cold. We ate at the one at the airport and we were disappointed. My wife and I each got the smoked brisket plate. The brisket was fatty, under seasoned and had no discernible smoke flavoring. I liked the ‘slaw, not too sweet and not too juicy. My potato salad was ok thought there was some hard pieces in it (under cooked potatoes or raw onion?). My wife had the mashed potatoes and bbq beans. I didn’t try the potatoes, but they looked like runny, instant potatoes. I did try the beans, they did nothing for me and were...
