I should preface this with “I grew up in California, so really great Mexican food is what I grew up on, making me a bit of a “diva” about it!” That being said - the food here was good. I wasn’t super impressed, but still, for Mexican in Pahrump, it certainly surpassed the other options available. When I first walked in it was a little confusing on whether I should seat myself or wait for a host, I was eventually acknowledged and waited for a table to be cleaned. Be warned! They’re a Pepsi place! (More people should include this in their reviews!) I was grateful they at least had Dr. Pepper, but I much prefer a cold coke with my Mexican food! At least they had halfway decent chips and salsa tho, I’ll give them that. Once they brought the drink and chips, it did take a little bit to get anyone over to take my order, but I got the impression they were unexpectedly busy for a Thursday night, so I can overlook that. I ordered the Tamale (chicken), Taco (carne asada - for an extra fee) and enchilada (cheese) plate w/ rice and beans. It was delivered fairly quickly and was good. The tamale was a bit dry, as was the rice, but the enchilada & taco were pretty great. (I’m not a fan of beans so didn’t test those.) I then ordered a fried ice cream for dessert, but I have to say, that really fell flat for me. It basically tasted like a frozen ball of ice with cinnamon on it. It was too frozen and the vanilla ice cream had zip for flavor. So that was disappointing. Finally, I placed a to-go order for some carnitas nachos with cheese only, and sour cream on the side. (All this food ran me about $30 pre-tip, so that’s a plus!) The person who asked for the carnitas nachos enjoyed them! Long story short, if you didn’t grow up in California, this place has great food! If you did, it’s acceptable if you’re driving...

I am Changing From My Previous Post for El Jefe's! Since The Covid Crisis Is Getting Better, We Are Going Out to Eat & Getting Takeout Again. We Use to Go to Jefe's a Lot, as Locals and bring Family! The Food Used to be great, their Chicken Tacos, Crispy and Big, Sadly It's Getting Worse! Service Was Friendly, Nothing Else was Good! So #2 Weeks ago Family came Out & We gave it Another Shot! Everything Was Terrible, took #20 mins. to Get Ready Made Salsa & Chips, Salsa was fine, Chips Were Cold & Oily, then it Actually Got Worse! Our Drinks took Another #20 Mins so that's #40 Mins.! Now After Additional #45 Mins. of Being Ignored, I had to ASK Our Server "how much longer Before Our Food Is Ready?" (That Was 1 hr.25 mins. & No Food!) She Screamed, "Do You Think You Should Eat BEFORE Everyone Else!" It Was an Outrage of Her Arrogant, Rude, Attitude! I Should have Thought about that since Shortly Before I asked, a Nice Older Couple Ordered a Cocktail & Had Not got it, that Nice Lady Also Got Yelled At! We Saw Very Little Food in the Dining Room, but Stacks & Stacks of Food, Boxes to Go! They are More interested in Food To Go, Instead of Dining In! I Will Not be Going to El Jefe's Until the Food & Service goes Back to What It Was! UPDATE As of 3-2023, Got Combo Burritos, Taco Salads to go. Service So Much Better, but food is still Not made with Equal Amounts of Each Item in Burritos or Taco Salads, plus the Rice was Hard in...

Guacamole is great ! Awesome prices, really good selection from the menu. Fish and octopus are on there, as well as a shrimp burrito. Drinks are wicked cheap as well. The staff are very attentive and are also all sweethearts. I have been there everyday since I've been in Pahrump, and I am going to miss it when I return from my trip ! I have nothing bad to say about this restaurant, except that I prefer black beans to refried, and I am slightly sad that they close at 9pm on Saturday. I understand, but when you get a girl addicted to your food you have to accommodate her ! Compared to the other Mexican places around here, this is #1. Went out with three people, ordered a drink or two and the bill was $33. I tipped $10 because the staff are so nice, plus I believe we should be tipping at least 25% regularly. Complementary salsa and chips makes me happy ! I would 10/10 recommend...

Plenty of parking. The wait staff are super friendly. Super clean unisex bathroom. Probably the best mango margarita I've ever had. The chips and salsa were good too. Now the bad: I haven't had menudo in years and I saw it on the menu so I thought I'd order it. It smelled like rubber tires. Like I was at a Goodyear or tire works. I asked my 2 friends to smell it as well just in case it was "just me' and they both agreed that it smelled like rubber. It was so strong that I sent it back and I never send back food (I've seen the movie Waiting lol) ordered the lengua tacos instead but by the time those came , and coupled with the rubber tire smell, I was no longer hungry and took it to go. Would go back again to eat the chips and salsa and that amazing mango margarita
