After reading some of the earlier reviews of this hotel, my husband and I were hesitant to book here, but eventually decided to give it a try and we were pleasantly surprised. Here is what we found out in our two-night stay.||First, we had read reviews the walls were thin, and it was smokey in the rooms. Our room was very quiet, on the first floor, and did not smell of smoke. There are three floors in this hotel and the top floor is smoking and that is easy to tell once you get off the elevator. ||Second, there is a separate entrance to the hotel rooms, so you do not have to drag your luggage through the casino to get to the rooms. However, the front desk is in the casino, but it is right near the exit. And they have two wheeled luggage wagons you can take right to your car to unload and also use for departure instead of making more than one trip if you have a lot of luggage. ||Third, we were worried the rooms would be run down. However, it was neat, clean, and quite comfortable other than the mattress. It had a huge sag in the middle and needs to be replaced. ||Fourth, this hotel has no fitness center or pool. It is in a busy area of town and this area is not pedestrian friendly. Cross walks are few and far between if you want to walk across the road to shop or eat. ||Fifth, the cafe on site is great for breakfast or lunch. We would not recommend the dinner entrees. ||The only bad experience we had was at check in. We arrived at 3 pm on January 31 and stood at the front desk for at least 5 minutes if not more. At first glance, it appeared there was no one in the area, however, we eventually noticed a woman sitting in a very low chair in front of the computer, barely visible. We waited another 5 minutes, but she did not acknowledge us. We did not bother her since we thought she was busy. Finally, we got up the courage to ask her if it was too early to check in, and she said no. She obviously knew we were there, heard our conversation about maybe we were too early for check in, etcetera... but she did not even acknowledge us. She was not friendly or conversive. It was very uncomfortable, and we even considered leaving and going to another hotel, but realized the snake at the front desk would probably not give us our money back. It was a horrible check in experience. Fortunately, everyone else we encountered from security, to bartenders, beverage servers, housekeepers, and diner staff were so very nice!! And the room was not as bad as we were expecting. The front desk clerk should consider taking a job somewhere it does not require interaction with the public. This is not a good representation of this hotel at all, and management should take notice. Apparently, we were worried about the wrong things when we came...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI believe this might be the largest casino and hotel in town and it's centrally located near the grocery stores and restaurants and shops.|| The check-in counter is small and to the right of the main entrance, but not too hard to find it if you come through any of the other doors.|| The room looked fine, some bare walls, but other ones decorated.|| The bathroom had all the amenities and were larger than you found at most other hotels which is a bonus. The one confusing thing is the water faucet for the shower is reversed. So after a while of only getting cool water I ended up going to the front desk to mention that and was informed that they are all reversed. So the hot water is the first setting when you turn it on. So just take note.|| The lighting in the room is bad, only 2 lights and both of them are very dim. One was a lamp in the corner near the window and one bedside table lamp. At night it was often hard to read anything even with both lights on. The bedside table also didn't have any easily accessible outlets or USB ports to charge anything, and you have to move the table to access the wall outlet.|| The TV is a big screen, but the picture quality isn't that great and kind of old, so if you are wanting to watch sports or things like that, it's not the best.|| As for the smells, the room was non-smoking, but you can still smell smoke everywhere, not only the casino, but the halls and the rooms. Also, there was smells coming through the AC, maybe more cigarette smoke, but enough that we ended up having to cancel the last night as my friend had allergies, and it was really affecting her.|| The casino was alright for a town like this, bar area to sit and watch games, several table areas I never played at, but my friend did and said they were really bad with the dealer giving out wrong payouts and such. The Sports desk was actually better than I thought, decent size and seats, tables and couch areas. At night they also have bands playing, though probably on select nights only.|| The price wasn't exactly that cheap and you are forced to pay Vegas style "amenity fees" despite the pool being located over 6 miles away at the Lakeside RV Resort, no gym area I saw or anything else to require an extra amenity fee at all. The bowling alley there doesn't count as you have to pay for that anyways (it was a decent size alley though).|| It might be a place for a night or if you want to spend a weekend and do some Death Valley things, but it's just kind of smelly and pricey for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were getting Our Family together to have an Easy Quiet Lunch, and Since I had some Potentially Very Bad News Regarding My Health, I thought it Would be Nice to Try Someplace We Have Not Been to for Several Years, to HOPE for a Change to the Many Other Lousy Places to Eat in Pahrump! So we went in to the Nugget for a Change and went to the Far Side just B4 the Capriotti's to what I would call the Casual Dining area. The Hostess who was supposed to seat Us, walked off, not Looking to see If Anyone was Waiting to get Seated, While I stood there Looking inside at Customer's Looking to see if My Son & Daughter in Law had already been Seated! A Different Hostess came up & asked about Seating Us, I Quietly Whispered to Her, What My Situation was & Why I Needed a "Quiet Area!" After a Short Discussion with Another Hostess, We followed Her to a Long Table in the Same Area, Space, they "Cook" and He was Yelling Orders back to the Waitress! How In Anyone's Mind IS That a Quiet, Secluded Place to Discuss Serious Health Issues, My Son, Daughter In Law were Unaware of?! I Would have Understood IF She would have said, the Big Corner booth in the Main Room was the Best they had, It would have been Fine! After that We Tried to Find Something Not Frozen And Premade to Eat! The Mon. Special, Spaghetti & Meatballs, Frozen with Either Can Or Jar Sauce, Server Couldn't Remember! It Was All that Way, Except, "The Fish & Chips," Fresh Battered Cod, fries, Deep Fried FRESH! Who Are they Kidding, the Fish looked Just Like an Egg Roll, Wrapped Not Battered And SO GREASY My Paper in the "Classy Plastic Basket" š WAS DRIPPING IN GREASE, HONESTLY!š¤¢The Fries Go Figure, Must be Cooked Someplace Else Because they Were Good? One Son had the Philly Cheese Steak, it had No Peppers, Onions, Or Dressing! My D. In Law got a Cheese Burger, Well Done, It Was COLD Inside! She didn't want to Upset Me & told Me later! My 2nd Son got the Fish Also, Same Bad Outcome Except He got the Potato Soup, which was Good, Unlike the Tiny Bit of "Coleslaw" We Both Got W/Nothing on it! My Hubby got a Chz. Burger Also Bland! We Spent Over $60 Just On BAD FOOD, Pahrump Nugget SHOULD BE 100% Embarrassed TO MAKE AND SERVE! I took Leftovers Back for My Dog, since that's the Only Thing It's Good For! I Can't speak for the Casino, it Looked Nice, Inviting; But Until They Change Their So Called Restaurant Food, I Won't Ever Go Back And IF I Were Anyone Local Or Out Of Town, Don't WASTE YOUR MONEY EATING AT PAHRUMP...
