Have you ever heard of people who will only go to specific restaurants rather than try similar fare at other establishments? I have found that I am one of those people. In fact, I will go out of my way to patronize certain places because I've found their execution just works for my palette. Such is the case for Pokémon. I'm so smitten with their bowls, that I refuse to even consider getting a pokebowl any place else. In the spirit of full disclosure, I haven't been back to Hawaii to test my conviction, but I digress. What makes Pokémon so exception to me is their selections of produce and the combinations that are available to the customers. In addition to the combinations, the housemade sauces weave together the flavors that make the meal so special for me. Lastly, the are the toppings that include fried garlic and fried wonton that add a textual flare that adds variety to entertain your mouth and mind. The best news is that you get all of this at an affordable price and the meal is a healthier option than most of the choices that are available to us. Are the bowls orgasmic? Sadly no, but if you are having orgasms from eating, then you have a blessing or curse that is beyond my pay-grade! The decor is minimal and is nothing to write home about, but you are not likely to be coming here expecting an architectural marvel. If you are looking for a wonderfully customizable meal that is a symphony of tastes, flavors, and textures, Pokeman is a...
Read moreSushi burrito $8-$13. Great as a road trip take out! One last sushi quickie on the way out with a sushi burrito. Our 1st sushi burrito, it was alot less rice than expected. Vegas is known to have amazing and more affordable sushi/Japanese cuisine. So yes, we were trying to load up on any sushi to go, not far from the freeway. Pokeman is located in similar plaza parking as Hala Guys. Staff was really nice.
$11.95 Pokeman Spicy. Delicious!! Great combination of choices. Ripping apart the seaweed, and seaweed salad inside was a little different. If they offer soy paper, we may do that next time. No soy sauce needed since it was moist and had its own taste on it.
$7.95 California Burrito. Because we were eating in the car, I asked if she could sprinkle some soy sauce into it. It'll make it easier to eat while driving, or just in the car.
They also offer appetizers like California cut roll for $5.50 but with $2+ more, you'll get a burrito!! This burrito has more rice added into it, and only 2 scoops of imitation crab.
Overall, the SO still like poke express Summerlin. But that's too far. And we were looking for something on the way out of Vegas. And It's a Izakaya didn't open untile 5pm, or else we would just order their salmon and Ikura bowl to go. It'll be difficult to eat but fixed the sushi...
Read moreI LOVE sushi and sushi burritos. That being said, this place left something to be desired. A couple things, actually. First, most places give you the option to "build your own" burrito. POKEman only has predetermined menu items. Not a huge deal if you want them to just leave some stuff out. (I'm a tall guy. I want all the things!) But they didn't have all the things I want. And I don't want to pay extra for every single veggie option. Anyway... You know how there's a certain Mexican food chain that offers "guacamole", but it's really just avocado flavored goo? That's what the wasabi was like here. I had to eat it directly from my little to-go container to have even the slightest bit of spice or flavor. The burrito was ok. The miso soup was good. Overall, I give POKEman a...
