“KEEP CRACKIN AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS”
My friend and I passed up 2 other Hot n Juicy locations coming from Henderson due to personal preference based on previous experiences. We dined here last night looking forward to crab legs and fried veggies. Upon entering, it took 10 minutes for us to be acknowledged/greeted although the restaurant wasn’t full. We watched as the entire staff gathered to sing happy birthday to a guest, ignoring us before and after the song. I’m not against the celebration, but I feel that one employee could have missed that and greeted/seated us. Our waitress MJ (team lead) informed us during the ordering process that fried veggies were all gone. She then began trying to persuade me to purchase etoufée as a substitute because they “both contain vegetables,” which was weird since what I wanted was fried finger food and what she was pushing as a suitable substitute was a stew with rice. My friend and I both ordered 1lb crab legs. She ordered loaded crab fries with hers and I had 1 corn, one potato, 6 smoked sausage, and fried shrimp. My friend’s loaded crab fries were not completely cooked; the middle of each fry tasted starchy and dense while the outside was soft and bright white. I ordered my crab legs, potatoes, corn, and sausage as juicy Cajun mild, yet all of it was super salty and spicy. The fried shrimp were excellent, though. I noticed that 4/6 crab legs in my cluster had no meat in them when I cracked them open, which is disappointing when you’re paying almost $50/lb for these crab legs. Our server, MJ came by a while later to check on us and I showed her those crab legs while voicing my concern.
Her response: “KEEP CRACKIN AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS” Then she kinda smirked and walked off.
When I went to the restroom, I found that the non-disabled person toilet had dried poop on the seat.
Later our server MJ came by again, never following up with my concern, nor even making eye contact with me and chose to focus on my friend asking her if she wanted another beer…although we both had alcoholic beverages and mine was 75% empty. This behavior felt deliberate and was unprofessional, especially from a Team Lead. My friend is a local small business owner and I am an advanced practice healthcare professional at the largest acute care facility in the Vegas valley. Additionally, I have extensive experience in retail, food service, and customer-facing banking, as I worked my way through school in these industries. I am well aware that this person MJ could have and should have handled this situation a lot differently. Even if there was nothing she could do about it, she could have pretended to be empathetic or sought the assistance of someone who could do something about it. We left there feeling unappreciated and like that $177 would’ve been better spent elsewhere. I’m a New Orleans native and had previously considered Hot n Juicy to be my 1st choice for boiled seafood and the Spring Mountain location to be my preferred location in Las Vegas. However, after last night I probably...
Read moreI went to Hot N Juicy on Friday night around 7:30 pm and discovered parking is a nightmare! If you see a car back out of a parking space, you better back up as if your life depended on it! Otherwise, your parking nightmare will continue in the narrow parking lot, which will always remain full! I parked two complexes behind the strip where Hot N Juicy sits. Then I walked to the restaurant and gave the host my phone number to text me once a table opened up; I had an approximate 45-minute wait, so I returned to my vehicle until I received the text.
Once I got seated, I encountered a packed restaurant. At my server, Jazelle's recommendation, I ordered a pound of mussels, snow crab legs, extra butter, and crawfish. I love clams, but I have never tried mussels; I now know that mussels are bigger than clams. I ordered everything Hot N Juicy flavor at the “Baby” spicy level because I have a low tolerance for spiciness.
My server, Jazelle, was attentive, and I have to thank her for turning me on to mussels because I loved them! The mussels come in a deliciously seasoned broth with a tolerable but noticeable spicy kick, and I had to order a second pound!
Crab legs are my favorite food, so I couldn't wait to tear into the snow crab! I devoured the crab; the meat tasted succulent and tasty as I dipped it into the melted butter! However, the snow crab didn't feel like a pound, and I had an empty bag fast! I wouldn't pay 44.00 again for crab legs; I would rather pay 15.00 more and go to a buffet that serves all-you-can-eat snow crab legs to satisfy my appetite.
The sweet tea wasn't sweet enough, and they played pop music in the restaurant. Before you dig in, you receive a bib and multiple gloves because the food would get messy otherwise. I only got one internet reception bar, where I sat near the back corner of the restroom. Speaking of the restroom, it could have been cleaner, and they didn't have paper towels, so after I washed my hands, I used toilet paper to dry them off.
I ordered the fried brownies for dessert, which I would describe as singular funnel cake balls with a traditional brownie in the middle; they were okay, but they were nothing I would have to have again.
The crawfish was the lowlight of my meal. I love crawfish, but I regretted ordering it because eating that tiny piece of meat is too much work. I wish I could have exchanged it for mussels. The mussels tasted better and required no work because the shells were already open!
Monday through Thursday, they have happy hour from 3 pm to 7 pm, during which customers can buy mussels, shrimp, and smaller items for half price at the half-pound mark. I recommend Hot N Juicy and will return! Numerous people have told me their shrimp is excellent, so next time, I will try that along with a whole...
Read moreWent here last night to eat and was disappointed again. First let me say I’m a long-standing hot n juicy patron. Before they had all these locations in Vegas and other places my family friends and I have been going to the original location further up spring mtn for a very long time. Over the years I feel like quality and customer service has taken a dive. Last night was the final straw. I was served a bag of crab that was 80% sauce and crab pieces. I noticed the new menu items and pricing had gone up but I wanted the Hot N Juicy sauce it’s a Crab boil sauce signature. Even the sauce hit different 🥴😣. It was sweeter than normal and very thick. My pallet & stomach did not agree with it. But that wasn’t my complaint. I brought my order of all sauce and crab leg pieces (not one cluster or full crab leg) to the manager on duty and she said she would check the weight, she returned with a picture of the scale on her cellphone that read 1.42 lbs 🤦🏾♀️! I understand scales at times need to be calibrated that’s why all businesses go through weights & measures yearly to certify and calibrate scales. The weight and serving quality period was visually financially and physically not right. It was so obvious. When I handed her the bag I expressed I think the scale is off. I said I don't think this order is a full pound and asked her why did it look like that, referring to the pieces. I didn’t get a full crab leg or crab cluster only pieces and sauce. I didn’t want to make price an issue but it was $45/lb! I’m looking at my friends combo order that came with 1/2lb of crab legs plus crawfish shrimp sausage etc and he had more crab and a full crab leg w/a cluster and it didn’t make any sense to me. MOD proceeded to say they’ll take it back what else do I want. There was no care or concern. It was very cut n dry. I didn’t want anything but crab and I wanted my order remade but that was not an option. My only option was to order something else. So I left hungry. Unsatisfied and disappointed. I’m fully aware of the crab boil movement & occasionally I try other places but I always came back for HnJ sauce even when quality was better other places. My last few visits specifically to this location closer to the strip on SM has been consistently terrible customer service, low quality shell fish, over priced menu, and a different tasting sauce. I can’t put my finger on it but it’s not the same taste as the other location. So I leave this review for long standing HnJ crab boil lovers so they don’t waste money here when there’s other restaurants in town doing crab boils (sauce)...
