This was one of several shops I visited today while looking for my first substantial, high-end timepiece, and I could have saved myself a lot of time and gas money by coming here first. When I arrived, I was greeted by Margaret who was very attentive to what I was looking for in my new watch. She talked me through several options that were within my price range, and was helpful to answer my questions about different pieces. I really can't say enough about how patient, helpful, and cheerful she was, even when I felt like I was being somewhat picky.
After a couple of passes over the different cases of ladies' and men's watches, I came back to the Seiko that won my heart on sight (pictured below). I wasn't intending on purchasing a watch with a date or day dial, but the heart wants what it wants--and my heart wanted the Seiko (which was within my budget, thankfully).
After I decided on the Seiko, Margaret proceeded to size the bracelet to my wrist, and bless the folks in the back who patiently removed several links, then added one, then removed one because I preferred the snug fit on my wrist. I never felt rushed, or that I was inconveniencing anyone with my requests. As I was waiting for the links to be removed from my Seiko, I noticed that other customers were coming in and receiving the same level of service, being greeted and served promptly. Everyone seemed to leave content, whether they were picking up repairs or having watch batteries replaced.
From start to finish, my experience was so wonderful! I would recommend this store as a first stop for anyone needing/wanting to purchase a beautiful timepiece without any of the horological pretention that can be found in other retailers. I normally don't write such lengthy reviews, but this business deserves...

I took a 54 year old Accutron (tuning fork) watch to be repaired. I had almost given up the watch as not repairable. I had a price range in mind as to how much I was willing to pay. I gave the watch to Ira and was told to wait for an estimate. When Ira gave me the estimate you could have blown me over with a feather; the estimate was at the bottom of my range. I knew the watch would be difficult to repair, if it could be repaired, since Bulova had stopped making parts for the original Accutron decades ago.
I told Ira I was in no hurry and knew that just getting the parts would be time consuming. Ira told me that the repair might not result in accuracy for keeping time.
When Ira called me that the watch was ready and working, I was elated. This watch was given to me by my wife as an engagement present 54 years ago. The watch keeps good enough time for me. If this watch has to be opened for any reason, including replacing the battery, I will only allow M & I to do the work.
I feel that M & I is the go-to place for any watch repair for any...
Read moreSeems like a great place for clocks and watches, but I can only speak of my jewelry repair experience there. It was a bit pricey to replace my neck chain clasp - but it ended up breaking it a few days later - it was a cheap clasp for a neck chain. I was charged about $55 the first time for the repair. There is no guarantee on the product. I was fine paying it at first. Since it had to be replaced again, the salesperson said he was going to charge me $30 dollars to replace it with the same clasp - he gave me a break. Again, I thought it was too expensive, but I said no this time - didn't want to be made a fool a second time. Lesson learned, I just need price check around town and read the reviews. So if you are reading this trying to decide if you should come to M&I - yes you should take a look see what they got - they seem to have a good rep based on the reviews I see - Just make sure you shop around town to find the best deals and that they guarantee their work. I on the other hand will just repair my own neck chain - found a clasp for 3 bucks and buying a jewelry...
