Finding a go-to local pizza spot can be a delightful journey, and my recent experiences with Sofia's Pizza on Eastern Ave have certainly turned it into a promising contender. My reviews are typically based on a single visit, but Sofia's warranted a second look, and I'm glad I gave it, as it revealed a true commitment to customer satisfaction.

My first encounter with Sofia's was about three weeks ago. I called in an order for a large pepperoni pizza, specifically requesting it extra crispy, along with a side of garlic bread. Upon arriving for pickup, I was immediately impressed by the gentleman working the counter. He was exceptionally nice and friendly, creating a welcoming atmosphere. While I don't typically tip for pickup orders, his genuine demeanor prompted me to offer a $5.00 tip – a testament to his excellent service.

However, the initial excitement waned slightly upon opening the pizza box at home. The first thing I noticed was that the pizza was far from "extra crispy." While the taste of the pepperoni and sauce was quite good, the crust was a little undercooked for my personal preference, missing that desired crispiness.

Despite this minor initial hiccup, something drew me back to Sofia's just a week later. On this second visit, I had the pleasure of meeting Dion, the owner, by chance. I decided to share my previous experience with him, explaining the issue with the crust not being extra crispy. His response was immediate and impressive. Without hesitation, Dion asked, "What kind of pizza was it? I want to make you a fresh one on the house." I politely declined, stating it wasn't necessary, but he wouldn't take no for an answer. His dedication to ensuring customer satisfaction was clear.

Dion then proceeded to make the pizza exactly as I had originally ordered it – a large pepperoni, this time perfectly extra crispy. While we were waiting and enjoying our complimentary, perfectly made pizza, an interesting opportunity arose. Dion mentioned that another customer had called and cancelled an order for wings after they had already been prepared. He generously offered them to us at a significantly reduced price, an offer we happily accepted. And what a pleasant surprise they were! The wings were perfectly cooked, juicy, and incredibly flavorful.

As we were leaving, I made sure to convey my sincere appreciation to Dion. Everything, from the perfectly executed pizza to the unexpectedly delicious wings and, most importantly, his outstanding customer service, was truly fabulous. I assured him that we would definitely be back and that I would be delighted to write a killer 5-star review.

Sofia's Pizza on Eastern Ave has proven itself to be more than just a place for a good pie; it's a establishment where the owner genuinely cares about the quality of his food and the satisfaction of his customers. If i could give Sofias and Slice zero stars, i would simply for false advertisement and lack of care for the community.

The restaurant hours listed on google says 12am. Slice says 1am. Thats fine, maybe they do deliver later.

I placed my order at 11:23pm, funds are taken from the account, not held. It is accepted, and says my order will be delivered at 12:08am.

Keep in mind that since i am a first time customer, i can not TRACK my slice order and they can not connect to my account nor track it themselves with all the technology available in 2022.

12:15am comes. I call Slice and speak to Brenda about my order. She advises me the restaurant is not answering and if i could wait longer. Fast forward to end, i call at 12:45am to be informed the restaurant is STILL not answering and i have to wait until the morning about my food or a refund. UNACCEPTABLE.

I was also informed by Slice team member Kia, that Slice orders are accepted by humans so my order WILL come that night. This is on a recorded line. At this point i am furious. So i DRIVE to the restaurant to confirm business hours. Clearly, BIG on the door. It says “11am-10pm.” Now, i am livid.

What Kia did not know is that i operate the technology for a pizza restaurant. They have Slice as a platform, and you can set it to AUTO ACCEPT so you can pull your order and prepare.

Today, i have to call and check on my order still. Slice Supervisor tells me Sofias had closed early DUE TO FAMILY EMERGENCY, but forgot to close the slice app (remember the rep told me specifically a human has to record it) ?? Says they refunded my money (which takes 3-5 business days) but can do nothing further but extend an apology. The owner absolutely has no explanation for the hours on the door, plus a lack of compassion.

I don't even know how the food tastes and quite frankly, i don't care. I followed guidelines according to Slice and Sofias, and got screwed. And find out the hours aren't correct for the store ANYWHERE. I understand that their are emergencies, practices and procedures in place, but this situation is outright wrong and should never have happened in the first place.
