I went here over a year ago, but the experience was so bad I have not stopped thinking about it. I truly felt so disgusting after, that I cried. After work, two coworkers and I went out for dinner and dessert. When we entered, it was the three of us and a father with his son, as well as a few employees. It was seemingly the owner who took our order. We each got the strawberry shortcake milkshake. He poked fun at us for all getting the same thing. Whatever, all in good fun. We sit down when he calls that our order was ready. I get up first and walk over to pick up my milkshake. I go to reach for the milkshake when the same man who took our order shoos my hand away. I was taken aback by this. My two friends come over to get their drinks as well. Please note that all three of us were 18 and 19 year old girls. He tells me it’s their policy that the first sip of their milkshakes have to be drank with our hands behind our back at the counter. The three of us are confused but we did see the same thing happen to the small child who got their donut before us. The first bite was taken without his hands. We go to drink the milkshake and he makes a remark along the lines of “go ahead and pull your hair back for me” to my friend. Afterwards, we took our milkshakes and left quickly. We were all confused by what just happened to us and felt disgusting afterwards. At the time of this occurring, we were the only costumers left in the store as the father and son had already left. My one coworker knows someone who works at a separate location and asked if the milkshake thing was a real policy. She said absolutely not, they do it for donuts but never for milkshakes. ALSO the milkshakes were extra thick so we had a difficult time trying to drink it, that felt...
Read moreI stumbled across this business as a result of reading a random bad review of Pink Box as I was getting ready to place an order for delivery...."Akilah J....I tried to give this place a second try and they failed me again. I received some hard donuts again and basically wasted my money. If Yonutz is open get your donuts from there." This lead me to look them up and I was immediately tempted by the choices they offered (Pink Box doesn't even allow you to pick what you want for delivery, they pick for you) and the prices were great for a variety dozen! The delivery arrived and they looked even better than the pics online! I ordered the Apple Pie for myself, and let me say I was NOT disappointed....the filling wasn't just some sugary apple jelly, but was CHUNKS of REAL apples cooked in brown sugar and cinnamon like real apple pie....delicious! I ordered the Strawberry Cheesecake and my coworker Bo, who is a baker himself, bragged and bragged on the real pieces of strawberry in the filling and the fresh creme on top. I had several other varieties: Samoa, S'mores, Maple Bacon Ring (REAL Bacon on top!), Fruity Pebbles, Dulce De Leche, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and the Chocolate Brownie Oreo. These were ALL light and fluffy with the PERFECT density for a doughnut. I will say this without a doubt that I will not go to another doughnut shop in the Valley now that I have discovered this gem! Forget 5 Stars......this is 100 STARS!! Excellent on...
Read moreA repeat champion on Dessert Wars it seems only natural that Yonutz is now expanding via franchises, a location on South Durango joining the rapidly expanding corridor now home to UnCommons, Durango Casino and eventually The Bend.
Big on branding, so much so that they are “home to” influencers per the website, Yonutz’s claim to fame is a “SMASHED” Donut seen at Afters since 2014, though here the Donuts baked twice-daily are uniquely topped or filled with more choices than the competition.
Roughly $3 per Donut without Ice Cream, seemingly a bargain compared to the likes of Wicked, St. Honore or Gabi, where Yonutz falls short is actually the products themselves as Donuts are on par with Dunkin thanks to a flavorless base that is dense yet slightly dry.
Opened November 11th, the owner still on-site offering free bites to guests in early January, roughly half the “Giant” Donuts come simply glazed while others arrive with minimal filling, “Apple Pie” and Nutella barely perceptible while Dulce De Leche, Samoa and Salted Caramel Biscoff aren’t really “giant” but overloaded enough to make up for the unremarkable Dough and good enough to warrant a return for...
