East Cuisine Asian Restaurant — Restaurant in New Bern

This used to be the best express hibachi in the area. My husband and I would eat there at least once a week and it was so good. I don’t remember the exact time but somewhere around the end of 2021 or beginning of 2022, something changed. Maybe it changed owners, I’m not sure, but the entire staff changed, prices went up, and food quality went down. It’s no longer the best. It’s just mediocre now. The menu is the same but the food isn’t as good as it used to be. We only eat there now for a quick meal once every few months then remember why we don’t like eating there anymore. Every time I come here I vow to take a picture of my food. And then I look down and it has disappeared...in my belly...quicker than I can think about it! THAT'S how much I've enjoyed it. I really like that they have so many Asian food options from poke to noodles to rice to vegetarian to meats to seafood! My only nitpick would be that ambiance is more fast-food like, but that's probably why orders are so quick after you place them! People of minority descent do not come here. I came here on a slow day. They did not acknowledge my presence and had me. Wait and stand there for 10 minutes. And then when I moved closer to the register, they came over but still no greeting. No courteous interaction at all. A very deadpan expression... It was so off putting that I stood back a little bit more... but then a Caucasian family came in behind me and she was all smiles. Even greated them! Smh i was in disbelief. This place is not for us. Don't spend your money here because they don't respect you...
