Hush puppies tasted like raw dough, slaw is not slaw. It is finely chopped cabbage, nothing else and it was warm and already turning brown. Crab bites were disgusting. Filler paste with hardly any crab. Who knows where they came from. Lady at the counter had no clue where the fish came from. Their main fish is Croaker and Whiting and catfish. Catfish is not seafood and we use croakers as bait. Sweet tea tasted like it was pure sugar and they didn’t have any unsweet to balance it out. First time there so it took some time to look at the menu. Lady at the counter acted impatient because it took us a few minutes to decide on what we wanted to eat. Counter service but they think they should still receive tips. When you check out to pay it automatically ask 15, 20, 25 percent. For what? Who actually gets these tips? Shrimp on the skewers was decent but after almost puking from the crab bites/tots or whatever they were, we will definitely not be going back. If the owner or manager responds to this post, I expect to see the same type of response as I see on every other negative review. Owner not taking responsibility and making excuses for the food. I am not the first one that talks about how nasty hush puppies are so that should be the first thing that is changed. Crab bites need to be taken off the menu completely and the brown hot excuse for coleslaw is inexcusable. Clear container. You could see that it was brown and should have never been served. It was almost like it came off of somebody else’s plate. Styrofoam cups, paper plates and plastic eating utensils. I felt like I was at a cookout except the food would have been much better if I was. Oh and lastly whoever made those tables, must not know how to round the edges. After resting your arms on the edge you will have lines in your forearms because the...
Read moreWe were excited to have found this quaint, off the main road spot. Great selections, decor and service, friendly cashier; ridiculous' pricing, we paid almost $50 for 2-2 item dishes with 2 sides. (Two Smallish peiecs of fish and 6 small shrimp on each plate). For as little food as there was, it took an inordinate amount of time too bring it out. When I expressed my dissatisfaction with a young man about the $$, (who I'D himself as the owner) all he could offer as justification was empty excuses about the cost of goods, cost of doing business, and bragging about how busy they were. As I explained to him, it was not about the $$, just the pure audacity to over charge and do it 'with a smile'. (Its true, "it hard to fill a glass thats already full". I'm never going back to that seafood resturaunt again and I hope $50 contribution makes him rich beyond his wildest dreams. Although my wife didn't want me to say anything, it goes against my military morals to "walk pass a mistake or not admit when I've made a mistake" that was a big mistake. This review is supposed to help the establishment, but they're already helping themselves to a healthy profit, they don't need my help! The owner literally told me "to go ahead and write my review, that it was going to make any difference either way! However, I won't be helping that cause ever again when Im down that way! Wish you better experience if you choose...
Read moreI went on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch/early dinner. My order was taken at the register upfront. I knew what I wanted as I had looked at the menu beforehand.
I got my drink and sat down after having a quick word with the owners Trey and Laura. You will not find two nicer people. Shortly after sitting, my food came .... oysters and scallops!! OH MY! They were perfect. Lightly breaded so you did not taste breading ... you tasted seafood. And it was GREAT!!! Came with fries and cole slaw. I don't like seasoning on fries, so they kindly made sure I did not have any. Cole slaw was great.
Service was great. Fast and the man up front did come by to ask if everything was okay. Laura and Trey also asked how I liked things.
I am not just raving because they are friends. The food really is good. I have a bucket list of things I want to try. I have never had soft shell crabs so that is next.
I hope in the Fall and Winter they will have their seafood bisques and Fish Stew.
Please go by and try Front Street Seafood Rest. If something is not to your liking (which I doubt), please say something to Laura or Trey. So many places can be hurt by a keyboard stroke expressing your dismay. However, I am not hesitant in saying that you will love their food. And, go by and visit the...
