Butcher Boy Taco House — Restaurant in New Braunfels

This was my first visit to Butcher Boy tacos. Right of the bat, parking is an issue here. People have to park along side of the street if you want to eat here because parking on site is very limited. At first, our server was a little aloof, but she started engaging and by the end, it felt like we've known her for a long time. So, as far as the food is concerned, there was good and not so good aspects. I ordered 2 tacos, al pastor and a chorizo with beans and bacon. The latter was really good. The portion was good and very tasty. The al pastor on the hand was a big miss! They take the meat and warm it up on the flat top, which created a crusty bundled up pieces of meat. There were no accompanied garnishes like cilantro and onions or limes. The portion was small for the price. On the positive side, the meat was well seasoned and tasty. It was just boring and visually unappealing. A personal petpeeve of mine is when sit-down restaurants don't use plates to serve their food. They serve tacos in plastic baskets. Update: 8/17/2025 Came in a couple weeks back and waited nearly an hour for our breakfast, and they weren’t that crowded. Said it was a new cook.

Came in this morning, a little busy but not bad. Asked the server if it was going to be a long wait due to our last visit, she assured us it was not. Ordered our breakfast and 45 min later, still nothing. Multiple tables were seated AFTER us and were getting their food, that was the last straw. Will not be going back, which sucks because the food and service are normally great.

Always a great breakfast stop!! Small, cozy atmosphere that is on point with anything breakfast, from plates to tacos.

Today we had Huevos Rancheros, a Carne Guisada taco and chips with salsa.

Huevos Rancheros were tasty and cooked great. They come with potatoes, bacon and tortillas. The Ranchero sauce is thin, but good.

The Carne was very good as well. Not much fat (which we like) and good gravy.

The chips are the light and airy with a crispness. The salsa is good, but today was smoking hot (spicy)

Definitely a must try here in...

So Disappointed! Last time we came we waited over an hour but the service has always been good, as well as the food. We watched others get their food that day that we came in before. We let it go and just enjoyed our food that time. We come here often. Today we are here and 45 minutes has passed. Everyone that has come in after us has their food. We even asked the server if they were backed up and told her what happened las time. She said not too bad, mostly to orders. Here we sit again. Why? I know the owners aren't working or the usual staff that we see with exception of one server. That could be the problem. We decided to get up and leave this time. Explained to cashier and server this was not okay and we were going to leave. Server said okay, I'll let the kitchen know and that was it. I vote for Butcher Boy for Best in New Braunfels. This will be the last time. Customer Service is just as important as your food quality. Do better...
