New Britain Inn — Restaurant in New Britain

I went in before meeting a friend and sat at the end of the bar, 3 bartenders and everyone has a drink. A girl finally walked up, after she got done talking to the other staff. Goes up to the guy next to me who has a full drink and is asking him how he is doing.

I wave to her, she looks at me, stops talking to him and WALKS PAST ME and goes to two “locals” who were leaving and converses with them, goes the the people next to them, WHO HAVE FULL DRINKS, and asks how they are doing. Finally comes over to me.

I leave and come back for dinner after meeting my friend. Sit at the bar and again the bartender’s are just talking to each other and don’t see me sit. The sign out front says $9.99 burgers. The bartender finally comes and I ask if all burgers are on special. He says “no, the bourbon BBQ and the smash burger are not” I said “ok, I’ll have a turkey burger” he says “only beef burgers” I said “that’s not what you said” and order a regular burger with fries.

I order my second beer and it comes in a 12oz glass, I look at the beer list and it doesn’t say anything about that. She comes back a few minutes later and says “I think I gave you the wrong beer and says the name” I said “no, that is what I ordered but I didn’t expect the smaller glass, it doesn’t say that” she says “really?” and looks at it and says “it’s only 4oz” and walks away. I couldn’t believe it.

The bill comes and the burger is $9.99 but the fries are $4.25!!! I was like “what?” He never said anything and he knew I was not a “local”. Every place I have been the make you aware of the stipulations to the specials. It was terrible service in TWO...

Decent food for a local dive bar compated to others in the area, when you need a break from cooking. Salads i have had are always fresh. Turkey burger is very good if they have it. Place needs revamping, seats and tables a little cruddy, most of their help is very engaging and accommodating, the Asian waitress there is the only one that's aloof...never brought us any napkins or silverware, and don't ask her about any of the beers, she does really expound upon any, kinda like she s tired of people asking or maybe she has no clue. That s another issue the beer selections. They don't carry many stouts or porters. Had a delicious Brown ale here but when you go back to get it again it's not available. That seems to be a problem every time we go. You like a beer and then thats it, you can't get it anymore. It's not available. Their mixed drinks are just ok. Unfortunately, if you want an awesome mixed drink you Must go to Cheesecake Factory. BEST Around! Although, I'm not fond of chain restaraunts they have the best mixed drinks hands down! They used to serve a drink called the Black Jack Martini, Jack Daniels, Cointreau, blackberry puree, and splash simple syrup to die for. The new whisky cocktails are just as AMAZING and in the summer I love the SPIKED iced teas. You'll get a good buzz off one. You'll get no buzz off of the drinks at NBI. You'd probably need to order at least three...too much money😣 lots of older people, mixed with middle age and younger folks, lots of Babies in high chairs and Toddlers playing on their computers. Starting visiting several months back for trivia night. We enjoyed it food was good staff was great. As time passed the food and service has gone WAY down hill. On every visit since around September they have either screwed up the order…. Bringing wrong food, charging for items we didn’t order, or wait staff going MIA. Recently, after several weeks of not going, decided to give them an order try. On our arrive we were met by our waiter who advised us he was training with two other waitresses and we would be having them all coming asking if we needed anything and hoped that wouldn’t bother us. We thought well this is great. We’ll be getting a lot of attention tonight, wrong! We both ordered beers, mine was wrong but it took 10 minutes to get the attention of someone. They apologized and said I’ll get the right one 10 minutes later I got it. We ordered, my wife ordered a wrap got a sandwich. It was a long time before anyone came to see if we needed anything else. When they did we told them we would like the check. The waitress said “I’ll get that right now” she then proceeded to clear two other tables and proceeded to have conversations with other people. After waiting 40 minutes for the check we went to the bartender to get it. Never again, gave them a lot of chances because everybody has a bad day once in a while, but this is just horrible. Advise...
