Been to this place twice. Absolutely loved the food the first time and enjoyed the music both times. This time though I will say I was disappointed in the chicken and waffles. It is included on the “Large Plates” section so when ordered I was disappointed in its size. In the picture are two chicken thighs and only ONE waffle despite the name being chicken and waffles. I will say that a bite was taken out of one of the thighs in this pic but everything else is untouched. This is such a small plate and when it came out I was surprised to say the least. I think to have it on the “large plates” menu is misleading and don’t call it chicken and waffles if you are only giving one waffle. I will say the that the score remains high overall because all of the food was delicious (including the chicken and waffle), service was okay and music was good. I probably would go back again but would stay away from the large plate menu if I’m truly hungry and stick to the other items I’ve ordered before.

I was visiting New Brunswick and found this place on George Street, a street full of eateries. We ate indoors, but there outdoor seating was tented with live music! The indoor atmosphere was slightly upscale, but had a nice casual ambiance. The buffalo cauliflower was deliciously crispy. I got a chicken and waffle slider as well as a bacon cheeseburger one. Both protiens were tender and the food came out hot. My fries were well seasoned and our waitress was very attentive. What really gives this place 5 stars is their donuts. They have homemade donuts in like 10 different flavors. We tried the french toast, smores and the blueberry. They were all tender and fluffy and most importantly delicious. I would go back just to get donuts.

I had a really enjoyable evening at Tavern on George. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, especially with the live music playing from 7 PM to 10 PM it definitely added a great vibe to the night. Our server, Auriel, was outstanding. Super attentive and friendly, he recommended a few dishes for us, which made the whole experience even better. I ordered a burger it could’ve used a bit more seasoning, but it was still good. The fries were crispy and well done. My wife went with the pork ribs, and they were excellent fall off the bone tender and full of flavor. We also tried the calamari; it wasn’t the best I’ve had, but it was still decent. My Amaretto Sour was spot on smooth, balanced, and delicious.

Tavern on George, situated at 361 George Street in New Brunswick, offers a welcoming atmosphere that blends rustic charm with modern amenities. The establishment features both upstairs and downstairs dining areas, each equipped with bars and multiple televisions tuned to local sports events, creating a lively environment for patrons.

The menu showcases classic American pub fare with notable dishes such as French onion soup, crab cakes, and fried chicken sandwiches. Diners have praised the generous portion sizes and the overall quality of the food.

I frequently visit the other bars on the same strip but Tavern on George usually has a bigger crowd and I wanted to see what it was about. Let me start by saying the seats are incredibly uncomfortable if your at the bar or sitting at a high top. I am over 6 foot in height, just under 300lbs and it felt like I was balancing on one buttcheek the entire night. Next, I saw the menu and it quickly appealed to me with some the dishes that were offered. I am a huge fan of spice and I saw they had a chipotle chicken sandwich. I decided to give it a try and upon receiving the meal, they gave it to me on a wrap. Not a big deal but not what I ordered, I politely asked them to take it back and bring back the sandwich version. Upon receiving my correct order I smelled something that really didn't jive with my nose. The buns were drowned in butter and the "chipotle sauce" tasted funky. I even had my brother in law try the sandwich and he was taken back said agreed something was wrong. The waitress came back and I had asked her to switch my sandwich because it was just unbearable to smell or eat. I opted for a simple burger, no butter on the bun with my selected toppings. I will say it had a nice charred flavor but that is all, everything else was just super bland and I left aggravated and with a stomach ache. Safe to say I will not be returning here to eat or have a drink. I recommend the George Street Ale House or Harvest Moon, never have had any issues with those...

Visited on a Saturday at 8:15pm for the live music seating. We reserved a table and they keep track which is nice. Service was kind and attentive. Food will take about a half hour to come out but it was reallllly good. We got the wings, chicken and waffles, and home cut fries with a pale ale and a Margherita flight. We had zero complaints.

The live music was great with Lisa and Ernie. Lisa was has great vocals and Ernie just brings a great vibe. Together they’re really great. We loved them!

Table was clean. Overall a clean place. We were seated in the live music area and when we left we were shocked to see how packed the bar had gotten, only because we couldn’t tell from the live music seating area. The live music area is not cramped at all so it really makes you feel like you can sit and enjoy your food and music without being annoyed by the large amount of people at the bar. Reminds me of noise cancelling headphones, you don’t hear the noise until you take the headphones off, or in this case, until you’re ready to leave the live music area. Thank you...
