There are not enough good things I can say about the food here. Super authentic, fresh, homemade, delicious food. The quality is shown in the fine details. It felt like sitting at Nonna’s table.
We came for lunch and order the fried calamari appetizer. It was lightly battered so the batter was not heavy and overpowering of the delicate flavor of the squid. It was also super tender and big bonus points that they included the legs which speaks to me of the freshness of the preparation. It is also the most tender and best part of the calamari and when they don’t have them most of the time they are frozen. These were definitely fresh.
They also served the most delicious garlic rolls at the beginning of the meal. They were fluffy but slightly dense, garlicky, and absolute perfection dipped in a little salted EVOO.
I got their penne all vodka. The pasta was cooked perfectly. The sauce was very good. Slightly more tomato heavy than I normally like but it was so well balanced and not acidic at all so I wound up enjoying it more than I thought I was going to.
My husband got a burger and onion rings. The burger was cooked perfectly and the onion rings were crispy and not greasy at all.
For dessert I had to opt for their homemade tiramisu. To say this was to die for is an understatement. It would be my choice for a last meal. The espresso flavor came through so well but was not bitter at all. It was sweet and creamy and light, I could not stop eating it.
The server, Joe, was an absolute gem. We felt completely at ease as soon as we sat down and wanted for nothing but never felt rushed. The inside of the restaurant is cosy and intimate but not haughty feeling. Great place for a romantic dinner or a family gathering but also great for a casual lunch.
This place will be on our list every time we come in to the area now and I am already planning my next visit! Can’t wait to try their...
Read moreI came here with my girlfriend for Valentine's Day and was met with a surprise menu where they just selected a couple of options from the original menu but raised the item's price by roughly twice the amount. For example, if you check the menu on their website you would see "Eggplant Parmigiana" for $22.00. On this menu, it was $40.00. It was the same thing for the "Penne Vodka" $14.00. It was instead called "Penne alla Vodka" and cost $30.00. At first, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and thought that they maybe just made more elevated versions of the dishes and that is why they cost more, but that was wrong because while the eggplant parm was mediocre it was served on top of "out of the box" Penne with a bit tomato sauce splashed around, not even coating each noodle. If it were only my dish that used boxed pasta then I would understand as I ordered the "Eggplant Parmigiana" not the Penne. However, my girlfriend, who ordered the "Penne ALLA Vodka" also got the same "Barilla box" Penne. A 30-dollar dish of pasta that is out of a box. This place is an absolute joke. Not to mention the service was very chaotic, it seemed as if they were very understaffed for the amount of people that were seated and the food took way too long for what it was. If you value your time and money steer very clear of this place. If you want some actual good Italian food Catherine Lombardi's is a 4-minute walk away. It's a bit more expensive, but you get what you...
Read moreCame here to have a few drinks before our show started at The Stress Factory. We ordered Lemon Drop Martini’s and as per the menu, it was with Kettle One Vodka and the cost was $17 each. I wasn’t paying attention as the bartender was making them the first time but the second time I noticed he was using Absolute Vodka. I asked him why he didn’t use Kettle One and he said that they had no more. I saw 2 bottles on the display behind bar but maybe it was refilled with water only for display. Our bartender (Joseph) should have at least told us that they had no kettle vodka and asked if we wanted another. I cannot drink Absolute for the life of me and as soon as I got home, I threw up. On top of that, $17 for a martini with Absolut Vodka is ridiculous. I pretty much threw up $51 worth of nasty Absolut… The side of bread in a basket was ok but cold. On top of that, as the bartender was by the bar cutting up some fruit, my boyfriend tried to get his attention but he didn’t even respond with a “be right with you” or “one second”, just ignored him as he came back he told my bf he had a knife in his hand, the whole point is he just ignored him. But when the customers around the corner from us would call for his attention, he’d respond from down the other end of the bar. Contemplating if I’d ever come back. I refuse to pay $17 for an Absolut Lemon...
