In my book, 4.4 🌟 I was determined to find Rainbow cookies before heading back to FL. Rainbow cookies are not really cookies but a short 3 layer 'cake' with raspberry filling. I've loved these since my childhood in NYC. I was told this is the place to find them near Chesire, CT. Alright.. let's go. Upon approaching the shop, the pastry smell reaping from the exhaust fan took me back to when I was a child - yes, I had a moment. Anyway, so without offending, I asked to sample a Rainbow cookie so I can determine how many pounds to order, being I had a long flight back. They gracefully gave me one. I did notice it was alittle dry, though the flavor was amazing. She assured me that it was fridged to keep the kitchen heat from damaging them - I understood! I ordered close to 2 lbs. In addition, I got a Napolean Square, which I haven't had one in over 20 years. Nephew and I looked at each other like... Whaaaat? This square was really good. Inside was moist with custard filling while the top and bottom are of a hard crust covered in powdered sugar. Back to the Rainbow cookies, I took them home, got them out of the fridge, let them get to room temp, but were still alittle dry for me. I microwaved it a bit in hopes of softening it but to no avail (hence the chocolate smear on the plate). The raspberry filling helps with the dryness a bit, but I must admit, the flavors of the raspberry and almond are there and compliment each other very well while none overpowering the other. The chocolate is spot on and gives it a nice balance to the rest of the flavors. Overall, great taste and customer service. I will be back when I visit again. Fingers crossed, if they can get the Rainbow cookies just alittle moist - it would be 5 🌟

Stopped in to grab some pastries for a weekend in New Haven and found myself stepping into an old-school bakery straight out of a time capsule. The moment you walk through the door, you’re ambushed—in the best way possible—by the intoxicating aroma of sugar and anisette, practically dragging you toward the pastry cases like a dessert-loving siren. Then comes the sensory overload. Biscotti—three kinds, because one is never enough. Pasticiotti, eclairs, cream puffs—each one calling out like a contestant in a pastry pageant, vying for my attention. It’s the kind of place where you suddenly find yourself justifying why you absolutely need a dozen pastries for a two-day trip. We played it somewhat reasonable (or so I told myself) and grabbed a pound of anisette biscotti—because what’s better than dipping one of those into a hot cup of coffee? Answer: nothing. Also couldn’t resist a ricotta pasticiotti and a shot of espresso for good measure. It was the perfect pit stop after a few slices of New Haven apizza for lunch—because in a city like this, you chase carbs with more carbs. .

Our son discovered this place on social media, so we decided to stop by to grab a few treats. This spot has a nostalgic vibe that harks back to the days when service truly mattered. One unique feature is how they string-tie your box and loop it up to the ceiling—a charming touch that shows their dedication to preserving history. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to photograph the pastries because my son devoured them before I could snap a pic! They were fresh and sweet, definitely worth the stop. We also tried the chocolate and lemon Italian ices. While they weren’t quite like the ones in Philly, they were still a refreshing treat on a warm day. Overall, a delightful experience that combined great service with tasty treats!

The best Italian pastry I have ever had hands down.. Whether you are looking for Italian cookies, pastry or a wedding cake this is the place to go. I have been a customer for well over 50 years. Lucibello's has never compromised their generous size, quality or flavors. The creams are rich and full of flavor. The pastry is not greasy. You really need to experience the difference when compared to some other bakeries that just offer stale, cold flavorless sweets that are not fine pastries. The Italian ice is just as good as when I was a child. The chocolate is full of flavor along with the vanilla and lemon. The texture is smooth and delicious. You will thank them over and over again. They are truly artisans. Pete, the owner, is an awesome and gracious owner who appreciates every single customer. His staff is wonderful. He has reopened after Covid. Stop bye and enjoy an experience you won't forget. This Italian pastry shop is the only way to go. Thank you Pete. We are forever grateful of your dedication to...
