Absolutely Amazing – A Hidden Gem of Peruvian Cuisine!
If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Icaru is hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. The staff is friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu—which is a huge plus if you're not too familiar with Peruvian dishes.
Now let’s talk about the food—WOW. Every single dish we ordered was an explosion of flavor, beautifully plated, and made with what you can tell are the freshest ingredients. We started with the Causa Limeña—creamy, perfectly seasoned, and topped with avocado and shrimp that just melted in your mouth. Then came the ceviche clásico—refreshing, citrusy, and absolutely authentic. It had the perfect balance of acidity and spice, and the fish was so fresh it tasted like it had just been caught.
For the main course, I had the Lomo Saltado and it was out of this world. Tender strips of beef sautéed with onions, tomatoes, and just the right amount of soy sauce—served with crispy fries and fluffy white rice. My friend ordered the Aji de Gallina, and I was immediately jealous after one bite. Creamy, rich, and comforting in the best way possible. We also tried a glass of Chicha Morada, a traditional purple corn drink, and it was refreshing and not overly sweet—perfect with the meal.
To top it off, we had the Lucuma ice cream for dessert, and I can confidently say I’m hooked. It's such a unique flavor that you don’t find often, and Icaru nailed it.
The portion sizes are generous, the prices are fair, and you can tell this place is run with passion and love for Peruvian culture. Every dish told a story, and the flavors transported us straight to Lima. It’s clear that Icaru takes pride in what they do, and it shows in every aspect—from the food and service to the presentation and ambiance.
Whether you're new to Peruvian food or have been eating it your whole life, this place will blow you away. Icaru is not just a restaurant—it's an experience. I will definitely be back again and again. Highly,...
Read moreSpent close to $100 on a family dinner. Happy to try peruvian restaurants in the area and post a honest review. I have to start with I have high standards for Peruvian food, as done right can be so delicious! I was disappointed with the food at this place. I have to say the staff was very friendly upon picking up my order. The portions are not great. I ordered a personal jalea, the portion was smaller than expected and unlike traditional jalea the yuca was not included for $24. The chaufa was okay a bit bland. The Tallarín a la Huancaina with Lomo Saltado was mixed and soppy, I had specific instructions not to mix them; individually neither the noodles or the lomo were great. Overall most if not all the dishes did not taste authentic, as if they had flavor enhancers, I think I have tasted Peruvian food over decades to be able to be certain about this. But sadly a lot of Peruvian restaurants have resorted to using flavor enhancers as they cannot replicate the authentic flavor. I myself try to stay away from flavor enhancers, if you are a person that doesn’t mind them, then perhaps you will find...
Read moreI was super excited when they opened. I previously lived in 2 cities that had amazing Peruvian places that I used to frequent almost weekly. particularly with great charcoal chicken and sauces. I had such high hopes. I ordered take out. Charcoal chicken and empanadas. The chicken wasn’t fresh and tasted like it was bad/rotten. I had to throw it away. It was so upsetting that they would send out spoilt food. The empanadas had almost no filling. The sauce wasn’t anything likely the sauces I’ve had at other Peruvian places. It was like yellow-colored mayo. I ordered a second time hoping I just picked a bad day. This time the chicken wasn’t rotten but it was old and dry and the empanadas were stale. I don’t understand why restaurants send out mediocre food for take out. It still is a reflection on their brand & quality. We are the same customers who would come in. Why not showcase your best? This was so disappointing. I’ll have drive to NY Hartford or Boston next time I crave...
