This restaurant and all of their warm, helpful staff, is phenomenal! I have two immune disorders and my husband and I dined there last night for my birthday and Alexis and all of her staff including our waiter were so very kind and accommodating! When I called beforehand to discuss our reservation she was so great about making sure we could eat outside in their absolutely romantic and gorgeous courtyard and she herself made sure we had a working heat lamp. Our drinks were great! Then came homemade rosemary bread with butter and truffle oil sun-dried tomatoes that was baked deliciously and served warm and we could have actually asked for more, and wow the sun-dried tomato spread was tasty! Everything was prepared to perfection with the most delectable sauces you wanted to lap up with the wonderful bread provided. The shrimp appetizer was grilled nicely and this restaurant has really stellar seafood and what appealed to us and we were not disappointed! I then chose for my main the tuna poke bowl with a slight substitution on the watercress for greens. I was assured it was a large enough portion to eat as a main. It actually was large enough I took a portion home but some might eat the entire thing and I had to force myself to stop eating when full it was so delicious! I cannot stress enough how much I recommend this dish! It was the best poke bowl I have enjoyed in my life and I have had many especially sharing and often tasting my daughters through travels many places. The tuna was prepared perfectly and once again the sauce had a toasted nuttiness with I think some sesame topping and it was just sooo yummy! My husband ordered the summer flounder and it too was really nice quality and soft, buttery, melt in your mouth seafood served on a bed of scrumptious whipped potatoes with a sauce I kept lapping up the bits he missed with my bread. Veggies were cooked perfectly. For dessert I chose the flourless chocolate torte which was brought to me with a sparkler atop as my sole bday cake this year which really really made the occasion special for me besides the escape-like romantic courtyard atmosphere! Lastly when the bill was presented two fantastic macarons were included with it. My daughters and I love high quality well baked homemade baked goods and have tried macarons from even supposedly good bakeries and always thought many times they were too dry with not enough flavor. These were different…pillowy and soft and quite flavorful! A nice palate-cleansing surprise finish to just a wonderful and complete meal!
We both agreed the meal was perfect! We cannot recommend this restaurant and their kind and helpful...
Read moreI've never been thrown out of a restaurant in my life. ZOUBI tossed our *sses to the curb. if that's how the new manager handled us, she probably calls the national guard for a belligerent drunk.
wow - we just got thrown out of Zoubi's, because we complained about the service and the food was inedible. We had a party of three. We ordered two wines, two vodka tonics and they were delivered timely. We ordered grill octopus, bass and two lobster linguines. it took over an hour. the server was competent, sweet & apologetic and explained that the kitchen was backed up. the octopus was inedible like rubber. two bites and no one inquired why the plate wasn't touched. I commented that I didn't realize we were there for the midnight serving to Elizabeth the new manager - her response was "everything is made to order" - then i ask myself in my head- do I look stupid? - . next came the main course, mind you after 2 bread baskets because were starving from waiting so long. the two lobster dishes were horrible, tasted like synthetic seafood, and was supposed to have a cream sauce with herbs, tasted like egg noodles in three day old fish broth. I complained to Elizabeth nicely since this was my second encounter with her and although she didn't remember us, we remembered her from a few weeks ago. my date said something to the tune of "that's f ing ridiculous" to her response that "she has been serving the dish all day with no complaints." who in food service uses that kind of response? then she defensively said I'll pay for your dinner and I said you don't have to pay for a dinner that we didn't eat, it's not like you are doing me a favor. Elizabeth told us get out of her restaurant that she won't be cursed at and pointed to the door. we left a $100 on the table and left without a fuss. this is the second bad experience. several weeks ago, under the new chef and management - we came for sunday brunch and it was meh. the stomach cramps that followed should have told me not to try it a second time....
Read moreFirst things first, you are required to make a reservation online. The reasoning is that the setting can’t accommodate more than 40 patrons at a time. Placing a reservation was very easy however, not sure if it’s because it was a Thursday @1830 (630 PM).
The entry way already sets up the ambiance with a stone courtyard lined with sheer drapings. Inside Zoubi has a mixture of playful, small Euro village aesthetics, and yet, very much giving romantic vibes.
Very accommodating for Gluten Free needs. The owner himself, guaranteed no contamination. Speaking of, you can tell that he is proud of his business and is deeply invested in providing the best experience to all his patrons. He went around talking to patrons but not in that formulaic way that you’ve felt before. He was genuine and tactful in the precise times to check-in and depart.
Our server, Alix, was extremely personable and knowledgeable to all of our questions and concerns. Alix had a natural attentiveness that was refreshing and made the evening even more memorable.
This is not tapa style servings, very proportionate and can easily fill you up if you aren’t paying attention, ie letting your inhibitions go.
There truly wasn’t a single dish that disappointed. However, the scallop noodle deserves to be highlighted; it is such a unique dish that everyone should request it. I’ll just say that the noodles are made from 100% scallops, nothing else. The end.
Feel free to splurge on the appetizers, entrees, and cocktails/wine while not stressing too much about holding out for dessert. It was pretty typical for desserts band nothing to rave about when comparing to the food. FYI they did mention they have a new vendor for desserts and were trying them out.
We will be returning to this...
